Everywhere I go I hear..

I was stopped in traffic , then late night run to walgreens everytime... That's a beautiful car, what is it?! for me it's a good thing that I don't see RLXs everywhere you go but the bad thing is that I'm having a hard time finding aftermarket parts for it, I'm in search for a lip kit or a company that will fabricate one for me..

Anyone else hear tons of complements RLX owners?

I was drivng behind an RLX yesterday and I thought to myself how beautiful it is in person. Made me think for a second about possibly trading my ZDX for one, but then again I also love the rareness of my Z and I plan on keeping it for awhile. A used low mileage RLX 3 years from now as a second vehicle might be an option. Beautiful car.

it's nice and I'm glad it looks good stock ( no need to do much) but it sure would be nice if we had options.

I certainly do!!

This is ironic, considering how its looks are slammed by erstwhile, supposed enthusiasts.

The RLX looks better in person than in pics.

The darker colors photograph well, though. Black and graphite are particularly good to this car IMHO.

Same here. I have over 3K miles and still have not see a single one on the road but people that see it always compliment how sharp of a car it is. I did add the spoiler, splash guards, and side molding so it really gives it a better look IMO.

One of the guys at the place I have my car detailed said "we see a lot of nice cars here, but yours is one of our favorites - it's understated elegance". I think that says it all in a place with plenty of customers bringing in high-line cars.

Pix? I don't think I've seen a RLX with a spoiler.

Isn't there a photo gallery for the RLX?
I'd like to see actual photos, including the spoiler.

"Understated" sums it up for me

I have the splash guards and lucked out getting free side moldings, but after long consideration I just couldn't bring myself to get the accessory trunk lid spoiler.

I like the rear just as it is, complicated enough just as it is, and on the whole perfectly understated.

:-)

But what the hell do I know.

That spoiler is nice.. I saw it for 350 on a aftermarket/OEM Acura parts site , did you get it from the dealer and if you don't mind how much you ended up paying? I can't remember if it was over 400 when I last talked about it with the dealer

Bernadi parts online has it for 300.00 bucks. I would also suggest ordering a bottle of the matching paint touch up kit for stone chips.

I really like the looks of the RLX in person, especially the darker colors. The car really has a nice presence on the road - "understated elegance" captures it well.

I'm a newbie and just read this comment. I think a lot of folks slam this car because they see pics of it and say it's "boring" or it looks like a giant Accord, but you're correct. You have to see it in person. This is one gorgeous automobile.

I haven't had this car for 24 hours yet and it's turning heads already!

I just want to caution people that you should look at the installation instructions before you order one.

It adds enough weight to the rear lid that part of the instructions involves changing how the lid is counterweighted, in order to ensure proper opening and closing.

This is why I never got one.

In the first place, I think the rear end looks pretty good just the way it is.

And although I was thinking about adding it just to be different, the complexities of the counterweighting just made me think that maybe it was not the best idea in the world. Probably not a self install kind of thing, in other words, unless you're really handy.

In the end, it seems to me that even having an RLX is a rare enough thing and you don't need to add any extra distinction.

Just one dumb old man's personal opinion, of course.

Counter-weighting? I thought all that was done is changing to a different spring assembly

I ordered and installed the SPOON spoiler on my 2006 RL and had the dealer adjust the springs so that the trunk would be balanced.

Looks better than the 2G RL and the 4G TL, in my opinion, but I just bought the RLX last week, so there is some pride of ownership affecting my judgment. Still, except maybe for tint, I don't see any reason to go into the aftermarket for exteriors. It looks pretty good as is.

I always thought it was impressive that the car was Ichishima's personal car, and he liked showing people how to drive it on the track, and show them what SH-AWD was good for.

Smile +1

I stopped for gas this morning & as I pulled in, there was a car on the opposite side of the pump. The lady in the passenger seat kept staring in my direction. Being from a bit of a rough ghetto town, this always makes me feel like I am about to get jumped/jacked/rolled, so I tried to ignore it.

The car left the pump right before me & as I pulled up behind it, they motioned for me to go around. As I did, they asked me to roll down my window & told me how beautiful they think my RLX is & wanted to know what it was. They really liked my tint job as well.

It may not have the presence & bling-bling factor of most Mercedes but the RLX really is a nice looking car in person. Exterior wise, all I got were the splash guards & the side molding. I decided against the rear spoiler as it looked like it would have been a bit much in the back & I did not like the way they had to carve out an area for the Acura logo to fit.

I did have to get a big chrome Acura front plate as the dealership went ahead & installed the front plate holder that I did not want. I could not take it off without leaving 2 holes in the bumper so I made them cover it with a free plate. A bit shiny & ghetto fabulous for my taste but better than the 2 drilled holes or those air brushed things you can get in the mall; not crazy about having 2 Acura logos right on top of each other but oh well ...

I agree 100%.
Well, still I couldn't resist, so I installed them.

it really is a striking car in person. especially without the front license plate which totally kills the front end for me. acuras come to a point in the front end which is totally lost with the license plate. love it in black at night with the headlights on, it has a great presence about it.

I recently brought my RLX in for its first service at a different dealer than the one I leased it from. Three of the service advisers were raving about the color (Pomegranate). Apparently that dealership never ordered any in that color...a shame, since it's such a striking color, and is unique to the RLX. My first service was at over 9,000 miles - amazing!

Smile Hip Hop Hooray

I got my best compliment yet yesterday (not just the obligatory "Nice Car"):

Preface: Since I am the 1st to arrive @ my job everyday, I get the 1st parking spot which is hard to explain but it makes your entire car very visible to everyone who enters the area.

So as I was @ my RLX yesterday, somebody walking by stops and tells me that I have "such a nice car". He then goes on to comment about how he sees it on display (since it is the 1st car in the line) everyday and is jealous. He then goes on to call it a "bad a$$ car".

And here I am a year later in a white car with the trunk lid spoiler.

I might got one compliment at the Honda dealership I took it to get the oil changed but I haven't had anyone look at it twice. I had a lot of compliments in a lowered widebody acura NSX when I had it.

Why would the JDM Legend have its squab and seat track adjustments on the side of the squab like that?

And I think I like the Honda Access wheels better than the expensive looking Mugen wheels.

I prefer the stock wheels to the Mugen, and the front lip would be destroyed in seconds just trying to pull into a gas station or a steep driveway. The stock bumper is low enough as it is. I can't imagine it is for anything other than style because the aerodynamic relevance would be minor at best. The other interior extra switches are nice but I don't think it adds to its overall value, certainly does nothing to add to how the car drives or feels. It is great for us to have choices.

The optional JDM Access lip is more reasonable, just making the lip deeper at the ends.

I dunno. I wouldn't be willing to say that, based on past experience with Mugen parts. Even Spoon uses Mugen aerodynamics on some of its cars.

We all made fun of that rear wing Mugen put out for the DC2, but now they're selling at a premium and there are all kinds of imitations as people realized that it's a decent mid-game performer when you get fast enough on the track that you are really having to brake from 140 before Turn One.

If you're racing, you'll eventually go with the big adjustable wing and put it as high up as your rules allow, but the Mugen wing seems to be an intermediate step that everybody goes through.

Does anybody know whether the JDM Legend tops out at 132 like our cars, or are they chipping out faster?

I think I've decided I like the look of the RLX as is. It really doesn't need anything extra other than more snazzy wheels.....and I think the stock wheels are actually OK now.
