E Gremlins
My 2020 RLX Hybrid has 37k miles. Today backing out I noticed the backup camera did not come on. The screen stayed in map/nav mode. First traffic light I shut off engine, open and closed drivers door, re started engine. I put the car in reverse and still no back up camera (the rear sunshade did work though). I drove 2.5 hours without stopping to see a client. The blind spot monitors worked fine. When pulling into my clients parking space I depressed the front view camera button and no camera (stayed on map screen). My Acura probably sat for an hour then. Then all back to normal when I finished my meeting. First time issues with camera. The infotainment system has froze up a few times. Just curious if anyone else has had similar issue and found effective repair?
My dad has had repeat issues with his ‘21 Mercedes E450. Dealer did a software update and he also did an over the air update but problem still occasionally occurs. His screen blacks out. My friends ‘21 Audi A6 with less than 1k miles the back up screen sometimes is full of static.
Otherwise my RLX is performing very well, no repairs or other issues. I have an Acura bumper to bumper 120k mile extended warranty and will trade before extended warranty is up.

I haven't noticed any quirky electronic gremlins with my 18 RLX Hybrid with +18,000 miles (purchase in Dec/19). I do get the occasional time when the 360 cam doesn't turn on at low speeds around maybe once a month or so. It doesn't seem to turn on the 360 cam more often if I have the power distribution screen up (haven't tried pushing the cam button when it doesn't turn on). The only other thing that comes close was my touchscreen changed from brown back to default blue a few months ago. I just changed it back and so far so good. I set my touchscreen to brown so I know at a glance which FOB is linked to the info-tainment when both keys are in the RLX.
I seems to have more of those types of electronic gremlins with the 19 MDX hybrid Adv like occasionally not switching to 360 cam mode at low speeds or one/both side mirrors don't tuck in every once in a while when walking away. I had issues with my 19 MDX Hybrid info-tainment intermittent freezing/restarting; but, that was related to Carplay and IOS update 13 only when my iPhone 6S+ was connected with a cable. Info-tainment issue cleared up after IOS update 13.4.3.

Wow you drive alot! You probably have the highest mileage 2020 RLX-SH of any us on this forum. I have experienced backup camera on our 2017 MDX-SH not turning on in reverse once or twice. It does occasionally take a few seconds to appear on reverse sometimes. No rhyme or reason why that I can tell. My RLX-SH backup camera is working flawlessly so far, even with GROM VL2 installed it has never failed to appear in reverse.
Maybe try system reset or bring into dealer to see if software update is available. You bought your car used right? Did you clear all infotainment system settings? I always do this with any used car purchased. Never know what previous owner left behind that could cause issues.

I did stop at Acura today. The tech I spoke to said if it persists they will do a hard re set. They also suggested I change my non Apple USB cord out for an OEM Apple cord. They say this takes care of a lot of phone interface issues. I just switched out the USB to an apple cord and see what this does
Thanks for the suggestions!

I dunno…considering the car doesn’t have apple carplay I don’t see how that could make any sort of difference. FYI I’ve been using a non-Apple connection wire and no issues. I’ve owned my (new to me) ‘18 since April of this year.

Same finicky issues with Android Auto. They usually fix one thing breaking another. I find that using OEM charging cable is best. I did encounter connection issues using 3rd party USB cables. But now with Wireless Android Auto available, I could finally get rid of the cables, at least when they don't break WAA.

as for the OP, check the 12 v battery. See if it’s on its way out. Seems less likely here, but always worth checking.

I did switch out the USB cord to apple oem. No screen freezes yet. I almost always stream Pandora and heavy Waze user. Screen freezes only happened once every few weeks. Hopefully back up camera incident was a one off. If it happens again I will have dealer check it out. Will get battery tested next service.
Thanks all!
