Body side molding makes RLX look better.

We just had the body side molding put on that we ordered when we bought the car. I like it, breaks up the side pretty good in my mind.

It has been pouring rain and I have not had a chance to clean her since they where put on. When they called for the survey of the install I complained about them just cleaning the area where they where putting the molding on and not the entire car. They said they where sorry and would do something special for us on our first service.

I know they are practical, but I personally like the clean look better without them.

What's the bright red car?

I like the side molding! What used to be standard is now an option on all Hondas/Acuras! I added them to my Odyssey and I think it looks way better too!

Side molding does add positively to the side profile of this car. Thanks for sharing. Love the red Camaro sitting beside it.

I like them. I have the molding on my 3rd gen TL. I love it. I'm the only TL yet i've seen in my city to have them.

Below is a pic I posted in another thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=885075) after I saw the car in person, I didn't like the way the moldings looked on the base RLX in the showroom. I think they look better on your car.

I think it is the smaller wheels on the base. We have the Krell which comes with larger wheels that does not make the molding seen overpowering like it does in this picture. I can say by seeing the rear spoiler they asked us if we wanted and I said no, and am glad I did.

^^You may be right.

IMO the rear spoiler looks better in person, much better.

Silver 3.5 -- Yes, body side moldings harken back to the better days of Honda / Acura.
OP -- nice ride!

I see the showroom car has mud-guards. Any reason you opted out? As I walk the streets and look at cars, I notice that's the general trend -- no mud-guards.

You know I hate cleaning the dirt off my Camaro rockers but do not like the mud guard look on it. They did not have mud guards on one or pictures of them when we bought the car so we did not get them. I will show the picture to my wife and if she wants them we can get them on one of maintenance runs.

Like the Body Side Molding

[QUOTE=ScottBjorn3D;14462960]We just had the body side molding put on that we ordered when we bought the car. I like it, breaks up the side pretty good in my mind.

I have an RXL with the Body Side Molding - Look some better and believe it will protect the doors from dings

We really need a picture of a "Look some better RXL".

I have Side Molding on my RLX Silver Moon Advanced - Believe it looks better and will save some door dings. I think they came "Free" on my Legend and 2006 RL - Mike Landon

My dealer has a Silver Moon Tech demo on the lot with the Body Side Moldings. My opinion is they really enhance the look on that color. Not so sure about the darker colors.

Doesn't that mean that they'll have to drill holes into the door panel? For me, that's a scary thought.

I kind of doubt that they'll prevent door dings because they are so low. Door dings seem to happen higher up on door panels.

Actually they did stop a ding on our back passenger door. Notice it when cleaning the car awhile back. Plastic door strip is a little marred but door not dented.

If anything, it will keep your doors from getting dinged, and that's a good thing. Those are much cheaper than repainting a door

I actually don't think these mouldings will offer much protection from door dings. They're placed low and the shape of the door still leaves them very vulnerable.

As far as I'm concerned, they're just a styling treatment.

Disagree with you on this one Mike. Of course it all depends what type of car is next to you. When my TL or 4Runner is in the garage next to the RLX, the moldings protect the RLX doors. Of course if a raised truck were next to you, nothing would help.
And I do agree that it can be a styling treatment as well. I think the moldings break up our huge doors quite nicely

By the way, I just noticed that it's just using templates and 3M Adhesive Backings... So DIY is pretty easy.
