Another Legend born
#00217 has been properly badged. I took this pic as I was taking a break from removing the old adhesive from the "RLX", and as the sun was going down. The RLX is gone now....

Honestly, Ive never really liked the RLX rear end. It's never done anything for me. It looks like an "acquired" taste, as opposed to an instant "wow" or "nice".
But this...
This I like.
That RLX back end of looks fantastic now. Well done!

Your RLX is a lease, correct? Do you have to switch the badge back before your lease expires?

Where did you find that?

I forgot to give credit to TampaRLX, who did it first. Now if only they made "Legend" lighted door sills for the KC2.....
eBay. Was shipped from Japan. Was originally listed as for KC2 when I bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191594717952?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Yes. It's the simplest reversible mod, ever. The entire job takes about 30 minutes if you include the 25 minutes it takes to Goo-Gone the adhesive off without scratching the car. Of course, I could protest the naming of the RLX and just turn it in like that, too. You know, stick it to tha man, etc.
LOL
Good one!
I do, too. Can't believe I didn't do it sooner. Now the badging is symmetric.

They do make the LEGEND illuminated door sills for the JDM models. Need to find us a JDM parts source on the forum. I would like the LEGEND carpet mats, but the JDM is right hand drive. But at least it is now an Acura LEGEND with the RLX trim package.

Dear good sir,
The modifications that you performed are both tasteful and authentic. I can appreciate, and wholeheartedly applaud, your aesthetic decision. My opinion is that you have modified the badging in a most pleasing way. (For note: I too performed badging modifications to my vehicle) We must both have minds which are inclined to produce the same thoughts!
Thank you and good day,
P. Earnest Goodman

All those steps I took about two minutes to type take about 30 seconds or less to perform in reality. It's the easiest mod, ever. Honda knows how to make this stuff easy.

I'm digging for it on the Honda Japan website. I'll let you know if I find it.
I think your posts are great! I keep imagining some stuffy old-money person speaking in a faux-British accent, for some reason.
As it turns out, even though those are marked for the 4G Legend, I looked on the Honda Japan website at 5G Legend pictures and the badge is the same.
They don't. The letters are individual and separate, yes. If you look at the picture on eBay, you'll see they are in a blue frame in the exact placement and spacing required to make the badge look perfect. You peel the backing off the rear of the group of letters all at one time. You stick the entire frame to the trunk lid. You remove tape from the front of the letters. Then you remove the frame.

So just about Ą36000 equals US$289 today. I'm also pretty sure I could install that myself. This is another reversible mod.....I'll look later to see if these are any different for a LHD car. I doubt it.

They are the same. If you get 4 doors, I think they only come in black. I have seen them listed in colors, but have been told they are only available in black for 4 doors. Not a problem for an ebony or graystone interior, maybe too much a contrast for a parchment interior? But that is for the Acura doorsills. Perhaps the LEGEND sills have better offerings.

Also the part numbers are different for each interior color, so maybe they actually made to match each one......

Install instructions reveal that I'd have to take apart most of the center console and under dash to install this. Acura says "1.2 hours" to install. I guess, if you know how to pop clips for a living.
Here's the install instructions:
Install instructions
*note* to make link work, go to estore.acura.com and click on a part to open up a pdf. Then you will be allowed to open the above.
I may try the install anyway. I'll try the guy I bought from on eBay to see whether he'd allow for a purchase.
Edit: When the Honda Japan link is translated, it appears the illuminated door sills are available only in black and Seacoast, not in Greystone. Black might go well with my Greystone setup.

For the 2014-2015 Acura only offers them for the front doors only. For the 2016 they offer them for all four doors......I don't know why though.....

I am fine with the black, it flows from the inner sill trim which is black also and less likely to get visible scuffs as the lighter trim.
My Tech gave me the original trim garnish and the ACURA stainless inserts. If I ever got ambitious I could retrofit the illuminated stainless into them. But for now I see no need.
Bob, my Tech told me there is wiring that must connect into the bottom of the center stack. He said it was a clip exercise to install. No drilling, cutting or modification of the interior parts.
But I love the look at night when the doors open.

Actually if you pick any 2016 in the picture i posted, it automatically adds four door sills. If you pick the 2014-2015 then it adds only 2 door sills. I guess if you called you could order only the front ones for 2016........

I am aware of that. However when I tried to order them in my color when the car was delivered 3 parts vendors told me despite the part #s, it would only be in black. That is why I say it was confusing.
And if you go to the Acura.com site and the Accessories for the 2016 RLX, it is offered as a 2 door or 4 door option.
http://www.acura.com/Accessories.asp...ntext=interior
Perhaps it has changes since, and as I stated earlier, it may have been the supply pipeline was not filled on other colors.
For me, it is done, and I am fine with the black.

For some reason every time i try to order something from the official Acura store,
I always run into problems. So i either order it from my dealer or bernardi.com

no worries pgeorg.
It has been my experience as well that web info from Acura is often inaccurate.
Similarly I ordered the wood trim steering wheel to find out it was not heated. They seem to have issues reconciling details at Acura.
I simply wanted to offer a heads up from my experience, that no matter what the web sites and part #s say, reality is often a different thing.
Confusing and irritating.

The confusion begins....
Two events yesterday.
On my way to work yesterday, a guy in a MDX was tailing me for a bit, apparently trying to see the badge. I had flown by him in the passing lane as he was going below the speed limit, but then he caught up, stayed on my 7:00 with no other traffic for a while.
Last evening, I went to the grocery store and while I was walking back to the car, a guy asked me, "I thought they didn't make Legends anymore? Nice car!" I had to explain that indeed, Legends are still produced.

I have an idea for you Bob to make your Legend makeover profitable. On the theory that the grass is always greener why not market your old RLX badges in Japan. I'm sure there are some Japanese owners who will want a distinctive RLX badged Legend in the homeland.

Profit is usually my middle name, but i have to keep the RLX badge to rebadge at lease turn-in time.

LOL!
I did the same.
PS-Still looking for a source for the Legend door sills. I'm quite serious about doing this. Yes, the car is leased, but these mods are reversible.
For Legend floor mats, I plan an interesting solution. I will buy some Weathertech Floorliners. The Weathertech logo is a domed plastic sticker and removable. I can have someone make a domed "Legend" sticker and I can stick it on. Voilá! All-weather Legend floor mats. I did this with my CTS-V as well and it looks pretty good.
