Amazing brakes
Apparently someone stole a van tonight just before 10pm and began a high speed get away with police in tow. I discovered this when I was entering an intersection not far from home and realized with just enough time what was happening. I slammed on the brakes and stopped just short of the the speeding van and 3 cops which passed right in front of me, missing my front end by a few feet. The Blackbird's brakes are fantastic and saved the day. Actually I was just pulling out so I could not have been going more than 15 mph, but all is fine in Dodge as they say. My wife read just a moment ago on Facebook that the driver of that van was in a fatal accident further up the same road just minutes after. Crazy world we live in. Be careful everyone.

It wasn't as close as it could have been. I'm just glad nobody was behind me so an emergency stop did not cause me to be rear ended. A friend of mine was part of the EMS that was on the scene. He called me this morning and told me that the driver apparently sideswiped many cars before he hit an innocent woman who died at the scene. The guy was an ex-cop I think and was a DWI. People are crazy out there. I have not found a news clip on it yet.

It was a Facebook post from a friend of hers, not an article. I'm not posting a screenshot of my wife's Facebook thread. It does not matter anyway. Nothing happened to me. It was just one of those things that can happen. A friend of mine is in Paris right now and was blocks from one of the attacks. You just never know what can happen out there so being vigilant and careful is all we can do. I have had a run of weird things happening over the last year, but there is not much to say other than stuff happens from time to time. Just drive carefully and hug your kids if you have them. With all of the school, movie, and mall shootings, crazy car accidents that happen all the time, and terrorist attacks, you can't live your life in a bubble, no matter how enticing that may seem. Be careful out there.

I can find every fender bender around town that happened this morning. Yet a rogue drunk ex-cop fleeing from cops in a stolen van that crashes into several vehicles, killing a pedestrian, and possibly the driver as well.. is mysteriously unpublished?? That's front page news.. just saying.

Richard O'Keefe, retired cop, charged in fatal Mahopac crash
I was coming from a town over heading home when this guy blew the light in front of me. Mahopac is a sleepy neighborhood and not much happens there other than an occasional robbery or high school kids messing around from time to time. Too bad. Again all is well and nothing actually happened to me other than stopping short of an accident. The emergency braking saved the day.

Article doesn't mention police chasing him. Other than suspicion of intoxication, it says the Jeep was in the wrong, not van. It doesn't even look like a high velocity accident. There was one other vehicle damaged caused by the accident (not sideswiped). Rest in peace to victim.

I was not at the scene. By the view in the picture of the van that was driven by the DWI ex-cop, I would expect that the sideswipe damage would be on the other side of the vehicle. A woman died in the Jeep which I think was just crossing into traffic from a parking lot when the drunk hit their car. Apparently it was hard enough of a hit to kill her. Regardless of what the article says, this guy was being chased by three cops when they all past in front of me. Again my point was to compliment the brakes of the car, not to get into a detail debate of what happened. I'm just reporting on what I saw. Facts are facts and this fatal impact happened no where near me. It was just another regular Sunday night.

Um, OK.
Do we need all this investigating? (note to self: don't mess with Acurazine. They WILL find you, and find you out .)
All I know is that the brakes on the base new NSX I saw last night are carbon ceramic. Now THOSE are amazing brakes. The RLX's brakes are not too shabby, though.
