Parking sensor issue

Hi all,

Recently got a parking system error. I tried disconnecting the battery as well as the 10 second parking system reset method. Nothing working. I hooked up my scanner and the error I got was B2611 - front 2nd sensor failure. Google ai says that is the front inner right. Can anyone confirm this. Also any he full thoughts on a DIY. Can’t seem to find much to anything on this. 2019 rdx spec btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can confirm that is the correct sensor.

Initially I started getting false indications from that sensor after a tree branch kicked up and hit it. Then it began working normally for several weeks, before suddenly reporting an entire system error on the MID, which is what you appear to have now.

I can't remember the exact code I obtained on my reader, but I'm sure it reported front sensor #2. Another week later, the system error cleared on it's own. That sensor never reports a nearby object, but the other 7 sensors have resumed working, so I do not plan on replacing that sensor at all.

thanks for confirming this. Interesting that your parking system still works with one bad sensor. Mine will not work at all. My wife wants it fixed since her spot in the garage is tight.

My theory is that the impact from the branch allowed water into the sensor. Initially the water was only enough to cause intermittent false alarms. As more water got inside it eventually shorted out the sensor, making the whole system inoperable (what you have now).

I saw a YouTube video where someone sprayed WD-40 onto the sensor. I tried doing that and saw no immediate change. A couple of days later the system became operational again , while the individual sensor failed to report any objects. I can only assume the WD-40 got in and displaced the water, removing the short from the system.

Fortunately with the two corner sensors still operational, and one sensor still looking forward, this sensor is really not required.

Once you have the bumper removed to replace the sensor, I suggest unplugging the suspect sensor, and see if the system will come back online (I.e. the remaining sensors will start working on their own).

Is it possible to replace that sensor without removing the front number? Seems like a big job.

I understand that removing a bumper is not terribly difficult for someone with a little experience. It seems to be held together almost entirely with push pins and plastic clips. Still, not something i want to try for the first time by myself.

This thread might help with an alternative method.

^ Thanks Rick, came here to link that, it's not bad at all and that outlines what I did and the sensor I bought, saved a ton of $$$ and it's still working to this day.

Odd your parking sensor going bad didn't behave the same way mine did, I knew which one it was because it kept going off like something was there, we just had to disable the parking sensors until I fixed it.
