Consumer Reports Latest
I just read an article by Auto Blog that lists the 10 least reliable cars, citing Consumer Reports as a reference.. I was shocked to read that the Honda Odyssey is listed, with owners citing in-car electronics, power equipment, and body hardware.as the reasons. This is disturbing to me since I always regarded Honda as a good car company. However, I am not surprised since the in-car electronics in the RDX is dreadful. A cheap Garmin has a better GPS, and the back up camera is so hazy it is hard to see people walking behind the car. Don't kill the messenger. See review

Compared to the GPS in my Denali, it lacks screen detail (it's drab and unappealing) it lacks the the ability to zoom in and out, and the back up camera image is horrible. It seems standard def compared to the Denali's HD quality. As far as in-car electronics, the RDX is a gift that keeps on giving. I don't often use SIRI. But last week I stopped the car to search for a propane dealer. SIRI will not work when my iPhone is paired, not to mention I cannot answer phone calls at times or change channels on XM by using the left thumb wheel. These are all "known issues" . If you guys don't have the problem, you're lucky. My car is not unusual. I've compared my to new RDX's at the dealer. Note, the dealer is just as frustrated that they cannot fix the car . Perhaps we have different standards. I expect much better quality after writing a check for over $50k..

Sorry I brought facts to the table that might explain why there are so many people complaining about their RDX.

Knock yourself out if you want to pay $80k for a Denali. Actually, the LT model has the same superior Navi etc and is priced comparably. Since I'm not a fanboy or apologist for mediocracy, let's compare it to a cheaper car. I sold a Equinox LTZ and paid less than the RDX for it when new. The Navi and backup camera were outstanding as was the realtime traffic run by XM/Sirius. The RDX has crappy realtime traffic that fades in and out because it is now powered by the FM radio rather than XM radio like the 2018 RDX.

I’m going to take both sides on this one. The camera resolution absolutely hands down does suck compared to others in this segment and price point. If you are defending it on here you haven’t paid attention or driven other current model year cars. I noticed it upon test drive and feel it was slightly worse if not on par with the 2008 Infiniti I was trading. Key point is it’s not a hidden feature or rattle that pops up after a thousand miles. It’s right there in front of you to consider if you take an extended test drive which involves putting it in reverse. I still wrote the check, and took it in consideration as part of the total value equation, where the total sum is still greater than the other options we test drove.

I have no idea what the resolution of the backup camera may be, but I find it adequate if I give it the occasional thumb wipe, as previously noted.
A spit-moistened thumb is especially effective at dealing with road salt and grime. YMMV
As with any digital imaging system, there is a trade-off between resolution and low-light performance. Just a random thought.
As for the rest of the electronics, I have no intention of defending the indefensible. Honda/Acura really needs to do their testing BEFORE they sell vehicles to the public.

I agree with your comment about the NAV screen. The first question I asked when looking at the car was about the screen and whether it could be changed. I don't like it but at this time it's the only thing I don't like.

I looked at quite a few vehicles before I pulled the plug and bought my RDX. Lots of technology to learn over my previous ride a Lexus RX350. So far, I'm impressed but I already know I don't like the screen for the NAV. But I love my Red exterior with the light Tan interior. Can't have everything!
