I would wait for TSB on 2020, it should be released soon.... you don’t want to waste your trip

I took my RDX into the dealer today to get the brake squealing issue documented, they apparently have to take a video of it happening and send it to Acura. However, they did also confirm the TSB only applies to 2019, not to 2020 because the fix wasn't working on 2020's. He said for that matter, the fix wasn't working on all 2019's either. It seems this is an unforeseen design issue. Also, fun tidbit - the rotors are manufactured in such a way that they cannot be machined. So that'll be nice and expensive down the road.

Anyway, once the TSB is released I'll be set to go for them to do the repairs.

My dealer told me there is no current TSB to fix the problem, and that they were seeing it on most 2020's they sold. They said they replaced the pads and rotors on 2019's and it fixed it with some varying degrees of success but the same fix apparently doesn't work for 2020's? I don't know, but it would seem to fit with why the TSB originally applied to 2020 and now it isn't. He just said Acura is working on it, no ETA. If anyone hears something concrete I'll show him, but they are already well aware of the TSB posted in the sticky threads.

I had squealing on my 2020 RDX. The dealer performed the fix outlined in the TSB I saw for the 2019. No issues and I am very satisfied with the repair.

For 2019 RDX:
TSB 19-053 - Front and/or Rear Brakes Squeal When Applied at Low Speeds
Applies To: 2019 RDX - ALL - ALL
http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/B19-053.PDF
http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/p...nu/B19-053.PDF

Your dealership should have the TSB in their database. The TSB for the 2020 RDX has been temporarily removed, and will be included in a later revision.

My dealer performed the TSB fix for my 2019 RDX AWD base, it is still squealing. First time went there, they replaced front rotors, 2nd time they replaced rear pads. Now still squealing as usual. So annoyed. I am in Atlanta, not even extreme cold temperature.

Mine aren't squealing since the front rotors/rear pads were done. The tech said that they've had a hell of a time getting the right rotors in to do the TSB so I'm glad I called for an appt first.

When I talked to my dealer two months ago about the brakes they informed me they had some customers with the complaint and Acura was aware of the problem but did not have a fix yet. Its been a year since this started, how long does a "fix" take. One service advisor told me it had to do with the brake caliber being fully floating and that was a "new design". I didn't bother to confuse her with the fact that fully floating brake calibers have been around for decades or that Honda built millions of cars who's brakes did not squeal like this. I have been patient as I don't drive the car much locally, more on long trips. ( We drive our Fit around town...hard to beat the 35+ MPG in the city).
I will be checking back with the dealer when we get home from our next trip in the RDX this week and see if they have any news on this fix. Cold temps return here next week and I expect the problem has not "fixed itself" and hope I can get it resolved on the next trip in. I have a copy of the recent TSB just in case they "haven't seen it yet".

the thing is, new rotors and pads will not squeal right away, please report back in few month once you break in your new pads and rotors

I have an appointment with the dealership this week regarding the brakes squealing. Luckily I took in a few months ago for the same concern. I’m going to show them the service bulletin and make them change the rotors and pads

try and get them to change front and back. They only did the front because they said those were the only ones making noise. False. Back ones are still making the noise. At least the font stopped squealing. Front ones were loud. Going to take it back and make them change them. And if they dont I guess I will just pay. Noise is annoying.

Are you on 2020, mines are making noise. I wanted to wait for 2020 TSB, but it’s been a month and there is no TSB for 2020. Some speculated that fix does not work on 2020. Should I still take it in?

Maybe I am just not hearing it, but the brakes on my 2019 with 14,000+ miles and 11 months don't squeal. YAY!

Sorry for those who do have squealing brakes, but I hope you all get the TSB applied and can soon drive down your neighborhood streets again...instead of parking in the local Quick Mart and hoofing it home.

This brake noise is a tough one. My car squeaked badly at certain times when it was cool and damp. At the time the dealer wouldn't work on it as he said there was no official fix. Now they have a fix but the weather is colder and for whatever reason the noise isn't there. Now, in the Spring when the temperature and humidity is just so it will likely come back. Then I will go in and they will tell me I waited too long. Sad thing is when I first brought it up they never filled out a warranty form, they just brushed it off. I should have known better. Always, ALWAYS, get a work order filled out when you have a complaint. Even if they put "No problem found" on the Work Order you still have a record of the date you brought it in with the complaint. I learned all of this when I worked Lemon Law cases. The paper trial was 100% essential to moving a case through the system. Even if the dealer stated they didn't find the problem the fact the customer brought the car in is what matters, not if the dealer worked on it. There are limits to that of course, otherwise people would just bring the cars in with a list of problems. Yes, there are people who do that! Some try to game the system. But, if you really have a legitimate concern, bring it in and make they write up the Repair Order so its on file.

I am still waiting to see what happens with my squeaking brakes. I have bought a LOT of cars in the past 50 years. None of them have ever had noisy brakes like this! Its such a nice car. Its a shame someone screwed up the brake design when they designed or built this car.

What is the milage cut-off before dealer says that we can no longer do TSB? I remember with my first Acura, there was brake pad issue, but they had a cut off in miles to get it free replaced, I think it was 20K miles, but not sure.

Agree....I have always insisted that the dealer note on the paperwork if there is a problem or even a complaint. I had an axle snap and release from transmission....lost a lot of fluid until I could pull over. Acura told me all was fine. I insisted that they note on the repair order that transmission fluid was lost while car driven just in case an issue popped up later.

Unfortunately the issue still exists on the 2020 Acura RDX. My brakes have squealed since day 1 regardless of temperature. After 3 months and 5000 miles it seems to only be getting worse. Brakes consistently squeal embarrassingly loud for the first 15 minutes of each drive and sporadically throughout the drive. Squealing returns after the car sits for 60 minutes or less. I too am getting the runaround from my local dealership Acura of Hunt Valley and Acura Client Services on a resolution with absolutely no concrete steps taken to resolve the issue. Having owned 3 Hondas in the past I wasn't expecting such poor customer service. Planning to post a video on YouTube in the next few days to convey that this is not a light squeal but a very loud, intrusive and embarrassing noise for what I believed to be a luxury vehicle. Will update post with link for reference.

I have the same annoying issue with the RDX 2020. Took mine in twice - they replaced the rotors in the front, no help. They told me they have let Acura know and will wait for a solution. Ugh. This issue is so frustrating, annoying and embarrassing that it's pushed me to sign up for forums in hopes "they" hear us and actually work at getting it fix. Otherwise it's "yes, they squeal but there is no safety concern as the brakes work fine" - not acceptable.

Had my brakes replaced by the dealer three weeks ago. It’s squealing just as bad now as when I brought it in the first time.

Brought mine to the dealer, they determined it was the rear pads, so they ordered them to replace them, they said they didn’t hear anything from the front, but man is that brake squeak brutal, almost took out the techs ears when I showed him

I would see they will change all of them. They said my front ones were the only ones squealing and they replaced those. Backones still squeal. I'm going to take it back and if they dont want to replace the back ones under warranty I will just tell them to replace and do the necessary fixes and i will pay. Dealers dont even try to help the customer. So sad.

I'm heading back into the dealer again this week. The squeal is back and while not as bad as it was before the did the TSB work, it's still bad enough to make me wince as I go down my alley in the mornings.

I recently noticed some squealing with the cooler weather that stops after driving a bit...but now I’m also hearing something that’s rubbing/grinding when I hit the brakes.

i only have 700 miles on it...taking it to service at the dealer on Tuesday. Hopefully it’s a quick (and warranty) fix!

It’s 2020 I guess?

mine was a lot worse at low miles, now at around 4K miles it’s practically gone, I was gonna take it in too, but it seems not to happen anymore, maybe it will come back..

yes...2020. That’s very interesting. I thought I heard something within the first 100 miles or so but then it seemed to stop. Since then it’s been persistent. I’ll see what they say.

Dropped off my 2019 at the dealer yesterday for them to drive. I told them it was likely they wouldn't make the noise for them as the weather isn't right for that right now (needs to be cool/cold and damp). But they called today and said they were replacing the parts per the TSB so I will see how it goes. They may have just taken my word for the noise as I had asked about it twice before after getting the car this past April. Also I do have a little video of it happening and you can hear it in the background. Either way, I hope the new parts cures it. I will know soon.

yeah, so far no squealing.... it just went away, I am hoping it will not come back, maybe because top layer got worn in and now it’s ok, no idea.
2020 have updated pads I suppose since they are not in TSB?
