Added OEM Remote Start-Can't Program Remotes
A couple weeks ago I installed the remote start receiver in our new to us 2020 RDX. Slam dunk. Took about an hour to install, antennae and power cables right there, plug and play. I have had 2 locksmiths come out to program the remotes. Both completely confident they will be able to do this. Neither was able to program the remotes, saying that they appear to not be transmitting a signal. Unit was purchased from Acura Express Parts online. We put new batteries in the new remotes, the original I replaced was just slightly low, 2.9 volts. No success. First guy only charged $30, second guy $50. I have an appointment at a Honda dealer for next Wednesday but I'm afraid what they are going to charge if they have to screw around for an hour and get no results.
Anyone experience any thing like this? My $320 bargain is up to $400 and counting.
Thanks,
Paul

So can you confirm that you actually replaced the original fobs with the OEM fobs with the ENGINE start button?
I assume "Programming The Remotes" is just a figure of speech, because it is actually the engine computer that is programmed to accept the new code being sent by the new fob.
Do your original fobs still unlock the doors and start the engine normally (not remotely of course)?. If the programming was done correctly, it "usually involves" first erasing access to the existing fobs and then adding the new fobs, which means the originals would no longer work. NOTE: the procedure varies between brands. Some brands have a table that can hold 4 entries for example, so you could add a couple of new entries without removing the original ones. I don't know what the RDX process is.
Are you saying that you cannot remote start the RDX with the the new fob, or that you cannot unlock the doors and start the engine normally (i.e. touchless) either? If the doors unlocked, it would indicate the programming was successful, and maybe the new receiver was defective or installed incorrectly. I really suspect that the programming was incorrect, since installing the remote receiver should be simply plug and play.
If the touchless entry fails to work, can you unlock the doors using the buttons on the fob?
Does a yellow light appear on the fob when you push a button, and then a red light appears a few seconds later? That would indicate that the signal was transmitted, but an answer was not received from the RDX. If no lights appear at all, it would indicate a defective fob, a dead battery, or the battery was inserted in the wrong direction.
