30+ wheel weights?

With the growing list of issues I've had with my ASpec Rdx, I was adding air to my tires and noticed one wheel had over 30 wheel weights and another had over 20. The other two wheels had maybe 4 or 5. Is that normal to have so many or is it covering up a defective rim? Does anyone else's wheels have this many?

Could be a very unbalanced rim, or it could just as well be a very unbalanced tire, you won’t really know unless you get the tire changed out. I would mark where the weights are when you get the tire changed someday and see if the weights end up in the same place and similar weights. Let’s say the tire was slightly unbalanced and the rim as well, and instead of the unbalanced portions being opposite each other, if the put them on the same side it would make it very out of balance, each one may not be that bad. You could have the tires removed and switched around and see if it helps

Seemed like a lot for a new car. I'll add it to the list for next time It's at the dealer.

I’ve got anywhere between 10 and 18 on each of mine.

Im suprised by that too but as long as it’s smooth driving who cares?

I'm willing to bet they never recalibrate their balancer. I use a Hunter GPS9400 where I work and usually have to do a weekly recal of the balance machine. It's usually a must especially after doing off road wheels and tires.

Next time you get a balance get a road force balance, the machine actually puts weight on the tires and you get a much more balanced wheel, really important for large off-road tires but can’t hurt for a our larger tires either

Actually, the road force is more apparent on low profile tires. On the Hunter machines, I think the threshold for passenger tires is something like 27 lbs of road force. But here's the thing, unless it's specifically requested, you'll likely not get road force balancing mainly due to the flat rate structure. For a normal M&B job, I only get paid 1 hour for all 4. On most stock wheels and tires, I can beat that mark with road force (I think road force balancing will add another like .3-.5 hrs to my flat rate or something to that effect)... except the Corvette Z06 wheels with Michelins. Those wheels can go suck a dick. I won't touch em.
