Phearable Stage 3 Tune

Just wanted to see if anyone else is running this tune and what is your opinion vs the stage 2 from K Tuner with maxed settings for Throttle Response, Turbo Response and Ramp Rate.

When I did the stage 2 tune it was very noticeable compared to stock, and with the power gains over the stage 2 tune the results should again be noticeable or am I missing something.

you have the stage 3 and you are saying its not a noticeable difference from stage 2? Can you adjust your quick settings to max or is it all locked?

go get that shit dyno tuned.

who the heck is phearable any way? not a well respected tuner, as it's not a household name as k-tuner or hondata

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I had been following his work for a little bit. I want to pull the trigger soon for his off the shelf / OTS. I probably won't get into dyno tune until I get some bolt ons. I just got the car so want to ease into it a little

I'm following for feedback from RDX folks. Accord guys love it

Just flashed to stage 3 today. Definitely more refined throttle response compared to stage 2 on max settings. The midrange power increase is definitely there. I did not have a chance to fully rev out the car. Stage 2 on max settings definitely feel more rowdy on initial throttle input. Hot and humid outside in NY today. Will see how she performs on a cooler day.

I can attest to this on my TLX; I'd say that it's well worth the add'l $179.

I'm saying the jury is still out on this one...

Quick settings are locked for Throttle/Turbo Response and Ramp Rate.

Need so more time to drive and compare logs between the two tunes, trying to understand what may be going on.

It's OTS like the K Tuner just revised to squeeze a little more power, so far I'm personally not seeing what should be a noticeable difference and my dragy is showing a slight loss in 0-60, 1/4 mile and trap speed comparing both tunes under the same conditions.

I plan to look at both logs so see what happening, the data will tell the story.

Hoping there's something on my end cause I want to love the tune.

This is good to hear...

I did read a ton of positive feedback from Civic and Accord owners who have really enjoyed the Phearable tunes, I'm sure there's something on my end to get worked out.

I am wondering how they managed >50 hp gains in peak horsepower when everyone else is only getting 15-20. I thought the stock turbo was too small to support such gains.

not too sure bit the bullet yesterday, waiting for the tune to come in. Hoping its a little bump over the stage 2 but I am see mixed information out there including almost the same 0-60 and 1/4 runs. Hopefully seat of the pants it feels good for DD there is someone who compares the tune from the accord perspective and the tune doesn't make that much more hp but good torque bump.

Finally got the tune on so this is how I see it. Stage 2 with tweaks feels strong this doesn't feel as punchy. With VSA off fully thing shoots out from a stop. Where the stage 2 peaks out early it falls flat on its face on top end ...contrast gives that punchy feel. Stage 3 continues to pull very linear and better top end. This is a better DD tune by far and it's fast. It's just better balanced without giving up power. Feels good all the way through a gear. Launches well with the pedal dance VSA fully off. I'm all stock otherwise very clean tune

Stage 2 as is vs stage 3 is very noticeable

After reviewing multiple logs I found that the 93 Octane from (Shell, Chevron and Texaco) was suspect at best.

Having fair amounts of timing pullback led to some pretty poor midrange to high RPM performance with the Stage 3, ended up running about 1.3 gallons of E85 and 93 Octane (Sunoco) to full and this fixed the problem.

I ended up having Derek (IMW) do a custom E-Tune since I'm running FBO, this tune is more aggressive than the Stage 3, however, without compromising drivability and I highly recommend his work if you have about 3 weeks of patience to log and revise.

It seems that without going with a turbo upgrade an E30 specific tune would be the next step to pull a few more ponies.

i very much enjoy this tune
the low end hiccup is no longer noticeable and when it pulls there's no real delay to it unlike the ktuner stg 2 ots...but then at the same time it can be because of the adjustments that are limited access

Stage 3, is more refined than stage 2 for sure. I need to drive the car for a couple hundred miles to see how the tune truly is. IMO it's not that far off from the tune I made. Sport mode throttle is not as aggressive as before. Comfort and Sport+ seem to remain the same. All in all it's worth getting, this is as close you are going to get to having a custom tune.

I would think that now would be a good time to upgrade that intercooler. We've seem some issues with the factory unit and now with stage 3 they have pushed the tune to the max as to what the factory intercooler can do. That would be my recommendation for the next upgrade. You will gain more power having cooler denser air than say adding a down pipe at this point.

Nail on the head. This tune needs quality high octane fuel or knock retard will need to kick in to save your engine from detonating. Lol

Resurrecting this thread to hopefully hear how the tune is going for people. Has anyone encountered issues or broken anything as a result of running stage 3?

11k miles no problems car still runs well and running it with e30 blend still pulls the best. I do run mostly 93 now as I cant always get to the e85 station.

Flashed the tune and been running it as a daily for about a week now in city traffic conditions. 93 octane, coming from stock tune. Definately a difference in my butt dyno testing. Low end is about the same as stock so good for regular driving, once it passes about 3.5k rpm it's more rowdy than before. Might need to do an ecu reset since it hits redline before it gets a chance to shift into right gear now. Gas milage still to be determined. It's nice knowing the car can move a bit better now if needed.

KTuner help

I just received the KTuner V2 touch today, with the Phearable stage 3 tune. I locked the tuner with my car and registered online with my PC. However when I plug the tuner into my car the only tune showing is “Factory tune”. I loaded it and now my car has a bunch of warning messages about the brakes and hill assist, etc. I’ve been on the KTuner forums and read the online help and have no clue what I’m missing. There should be stage 1 and stage 2 KTuner tunes as well as the Phearable stage 3 but no such luck. I’m lost..

Don't worry about the warning messages, it freaked me out too. They will go away when you drive the car for about a 1/4 of a mile. As per Ktuner and op.

See this video. Start at the 2:30 mark when it asks you to lock the Ktuner. Hope that helps ya.

See the tutorial video in the online help as well. It walks you through loading and flashing tunes.

Thanks for the help! I’ve tuned multiple SRTs with the Diablosport tuner, which are thought were simply and user friendly. The KTuner handheld seems a bit more involved by comparison.

Okay, I watched the video but it doesn’t even seem to apply to me. I specifically bought the V2 touch because I don’t have a laptop and it said I wouldn’t need one with the V2. Is this my problem?

The part I don’t understand is how I get the tunes from my desktop PC onto my V2 Touch. This is definitely not user friendly. Every vid I’ve pulled up on YouTube is either with the V1.2 or with a V2 with a laptop.. I’ll keep searching tho.

Hopefully nobody else is as much of a noob as I was with the KTuner but I finally figured it out. I just parked myself in front of the KTuner program on my computer and played around with it until it made sense I guess. I didn’t know you had to open a tune, then upload it to the handheld. It wasn’t obvious to me, coming from a different type of tuner. So one at a time I opened each tune, and uploaded it to a slot until I had 3 (stage 1, 2, and 3) on the handheld. Next time I plugged it into the car I saw all 3 and was able to load successfully. Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Now that it’s loaded I’ll see how it does. Right out the gate I do notice smoother acceleration in partial throttle without the strange lag the stock tune always had.

For anyone else looking, the tutorial video in the KTuner online help does show opening and loading tunes to the device. The actual company's tutorial should be the first step.
