Uhaul installed Trailer Hitch problem

Uhaul installed 2" trailer hitch on my 2019 RDX.

One problem is that foot/kick sensor to open trunk doesn't work. Initially they told me they will relocate it, but at the end when job was done they said "we don't do this - you have to go to Acura". I'm pretty sure that in order to relocate the sensor whole hitch will have to be removed and Acura most likely will refuse to deal with non-OEM hitch mount (liability). Complaining to Uhaul management is not likely to work. The only option IMO is to find mechanic who will do this for me.

Also I had impression that RDX is prewired for the hitch and requires only short adaptor and connector box. Uhaul guy dragged the wires from under the hood to the back of the car and finished them with the cable end connector, wrapped around the side of the hitch. Under the car I can see sticking out end of the plastic strap and unprotected wire that can be damaged by road debris. This (hot) loose unprotected wire crosses few metal edges and insulation will likely be cut sooner or later. It passes loose in distance of 1" across rear tire. Perhaps protective conduit can be installed on existing wire. They also broke off red cover/protector on the battery "+" in order to fit additional yellow wire (they could just notch it). Hitch appears to be sticking out by about 2", but I guess it is OK. Acura installed hitch is at least two times more, but as they say: "you get what you paid for".

What is done is done, but I feel I made big mistake going to Uhaul. What is your opinion?

I looked at aftermarket hitches but decided to go with the Acura setup for both the hitch and wiring. Yes, it was more expensive, but I'm going to keep the car for a while. I know it's been installed correctly by the dealer and covered by my CPO warranty (the wiring is connected inside the left rear trunk side panel). The loss of a 2-inch receiver wasn't a very big concern, as the towing capacity is only 1500 pounds anyway. I can always use an adapter for my 2-inch accessories. Plus, it's the only hitch that will fit with the 20-inch Aspec spare kit (also from the dealer). I also didn't like the lower defuser panel for the 2022 models so I installed one for the 19-21 instead. The hitch sticks out a bit more but that's fine.

Be careful using an adapter to get 2". The tongue load will quickly be the limit -- not the towing capacity. Use of the adapter cuts the already low limit (only good for a rack and two e-bikes or maybe 3 regular bikes) by about half. My wife was considering one of those hitch mounted luggage racks, but the ones we saw were 2", and the weight limit for the Acura hitch with an adapter was too low to make it very useful.

When the dealer installs the hitch, they replace the kick sensor panel with another one. The new sensor is off to the left of the hitch, so you have to kick over there. Still works okay, just not in the center.

Yup, I am only carrying 2 e-bikes with the adapter or towing a flat trailer with a mower on it where I wouldn't need the adapter. Tongoe weight of 150 lbs without the adapter is limiting, but even without the adapter, the towing weight is only 1500 lbs. so really not a hauler like my MDX was.
