Using Apple Airtags for Vehicle tracking
I was recently gifted some Apple Airtags and am trying to figure out what to do with them. I've read that some people have placed them in their vehicle to track them in case of theft. I know Acuralink has the capability to track our vehicles also but is that only available if you're a subscriber? I'm in my fourth year of ownership of my 2019 RDX and I know I had one year free of Acuralink service which I let expire. If my car was to be stolen tomorrow would I be able to ask Acura to track it or would I be SOL since I'm no longer a paying subscriber of Acuralink? If the latter is the case, then I can see some potential benefit to drop an Airtag in the car somewhere.
Has anyone else tried this? I'm trying to figure out where to place it so that:
1) It wouldn't be easily discovered by the thief.
2) It won't rattle around while driving.
3) It's still able to transmit bluetooth signal well.

For what it's worth, a few months ago I attached one to my key ring. Coincidentally, a few weeks later I lost my keys after stupidly setting them on the roof of the car and forget them, and drove off. The net result the keys slid off somewhere on my way to an appt. That airtag (and Apples 'find my' got my keys back, and saved me a ton in replacing the fob. Amazon has little rubbery covers that protect them and there are plenty of places you could put it i the car if thats your intention, like that storage space in the rear under the fold up cover.

to combat this apple now alerts iPhones if a tag is pinging there phone for a prolonged period so your thief would be alerted to it then remove.
