Ultimate 5.1 Audio in the New RDX
Only if your phone is connected via wireless CarPlay then the USB does not work. Just another technical genius at work at Acura, when other car makers have allowed them to work in parallel.
I get it now. 5.1 on usb is something else. Unfortunately most of what I listen to isn’t available so it will be CarPlay streaming Apple Music most of the time for me. I prefer CarPlay Nav too. I really dislike the Acura nav color schemes.
What? You don't like gray? And then another shade of gray? And a blue-ish gray??
My PM does not work. Acurazine admins do not respond, so if I am not responding to a PM, I apologize for the mgmt.
In light of this, I will post yet another old school recording, just because frainc asked. (and Padre), ..and all the others that have PM'd me for stuff. All friends man.
One thing I have noticed, that may be obvious to others... Listening to studio 5.1 you get to get immersed into the music itself. Listening to Live 5.1, you get to get immersed into the crowd.
I found this to be true with this album, It is very hard to get a 'studio' 5.1 recording feeling from a Live performance, you just have to realize the difference, and appreciate both.
I pulled this from my archives and listened in the RDX, and it was so cool. Hope you enjoy!

Funz51 - Thanks for the recent download links. They are all wonderful additions to my 5.1 collection. I have not played them in my RDX but have enjoyed them on my home surround system. I never thought I would be fortunate enough to listen to Led Zepplin in my living room in 5.1. Thanks.
So here's a batch of surround tunes for the RDX (2019-2022) that come from all over the place. Check them out and keep the ones you like. There's something here that most of you all will find interesting. Some of it is rare quad stuff, some from SACD/DVD-A's, but they all sound great in the car.
As before, this link is good until next weekend. After that, you are free to share them among yourselves provided you got them in the first place!
PS - Be sure to respond back as to what you think, and which ones you liked best. THANKS

Well shucks oblio98, I'm enjoying these on the computer but for some reason they don't work in the car. The other songs that you've so generously shared in the past work fine but it's as if these don't exist on the usb when it's plugged into the car.
I did not have a problem listening to them in car. I think one had an issue. Let the car sit for a second and read the stick maybe.
Thanks Funz, I will give it a try again next time that we are out in the car. I have no doubt that it somehow involves operator error on my part.
I installed a large number of FLAC files from another source, onto a thumbdrive. Everyone of them played fine in the RDX, except for the whole album from one particular artist. The names of these songs showed up on the screen, but they just wouldn't play. No error messages were displayed, just silence when selected.
Since you cannot see the names of any of the songs, I don't think the problem is with the songs.
It appears that you are unable to read the thumbdrive at all. I think that the drive may not be formatted as FAT32. Perhaps it is formatted in NTFS which would be still readable in a Windows PC. You can check this theory by comparing this latest drive with the one that does work. Insert the drive into your PC and right click on the drive letter (For example Drive F) and select properties.

It only seems to be the RDX that doesn't see this album. I left it connected for several minutes this afternoon in the car but it still didn't show up. I've attached a couple of screen shots of the drive and album info in case anything jumps out.
When you say that other songs you have installed on this drive work okay, do you mean that they are still on the drive and still continue to play, and only the newly added files have a problem? Or did you delete all the other songs, and replaced them with the files from oblio98?
Since the drive is readable in your PC and Mac, there is probably nothing wrong with it. That leaves the possibility that the USB jack in the RDX is defective. Do you have any other drives to test with (perhaps with mp3 music), or can you connect your phone and verify that Apple Carplay or Android Auto still works?

I'm going to chalk this up as a quirk on our particular RDX and not worry about it.
Thanks again though for your time and thoughts about this.
Hey all! Just seeing this.
These files all came from my master backup RDX Hard Drive which are all files that should play without issue. Has anyone else had problems?
I know that I've found that in many cases, the car is looking for ExFAT formatting, which always works for me. You might want to take a new USB, format it as ExFAT, then copy the files to it and see if that works.
PS - I forgot to mention that the "Wish You Were Here" is from Chicago, Not Pink Floyd! It's an old quad mix and done fairly well. You might recognize the tune if you're old like me

Thanks for the “singles”. Love that old rock of my youth, plus the progressive rock of my “mid-life”. Bless you and thanks again! I had forgotten about that Chicago on Quadraphonic. I had that in an 8-track when I was in the Air Force. I bought a “quadraphonic” player and had 4 speakers around my apartment. Sounded good for its time.
I found the Chicago Transit Authority album remastered and “Super Deluxe” version online and have it on my VOX tunes. I am using VOX player to bypass Apple Music in my car….it sounds better than the regular “lossless” Apple format they are now using. I own all of my music (OR get wonderful gifts from my friends here at Acurazine!!!)
This way I am just using my phone to play on the Bluetooth dongle in the USB port in the car and not worrying about the USB drives. I should do a non-scientific no-blind back to back sound test between the VOX player on my iPhone and the straight up USB for the same FLAC files. Results to follow.

THANK YOU! Downloaded these to add to the collection...I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a hopefully "soon to be mine" RED '22 RDX Advance. Build date Feb 22-26, arrival at dealership estimated to be Mid March. The Advance RDX has the best automotive audio system I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy, made even better by these graciously provided 5.1 files!

You're more than welcome, Padre! Hey, just to be sure, if you are playing these files from your phone you are not getting the 5.1/4.0 surround that you would get from a USB stick. The phone storage will not properly send out more than 2 channels of audio. You might want to compare what you're hearing with the same files on a USB stick
The car I was going to trade was our '22 Highlander Hybrid. The Corsair and the RDX were roughly tied in my mind, so I then found an inbound Corsair (in your next of the woods, Mesa) equipped just how I would have ordered it. Negotiated the deal over email for $1,000 under MSRP, and 0% for 36 months. My wife knocked some sense into me at the last minute when I was going to trade the Highlander.....We ended up trading in her '20 CR-V. The Highlander is now "her" car and all is well in the our "car world".
I do miss the RDX sound system, but not the fuel usage. What can I say. And I am a conservative driver, I think the Corsair was the right choice.
I like to stay involved here, great group of people.
Just take your current stick, Copy the whole thing to your hard disk, then reformat you're stick, and copy the files back on.. rdx is all 2.0. You can tell by the USB plug on the car.

The car is 2.0. The only advantage to a 3.0 stick is that you can copy the files from your PC to the stick a lot quicker, provided your PC has a 3.0/3.1 port. This actually makes a big difference if you are copying a lot of files to a large USB device

Well, the 'classical high-end' might not be what I was hoping for...but how do you find the 5.1 stuff on their website? I went to it, I don't see any mention anywhere of 5.1. I tried just entering 5.1 in their search bar, but that I could tell only a 'Bach' album showed up. In order, I would love an I-Tunes style 5.1 website where you can buy your own songs, and next, just albums alone would be awesome.

Hey all. Here are 5 tracks from rare Columbia 5.1 SACDs released around 2002. If you can find them, they go for big bucks as these are from the rarest titles
They are all ready for the cars, but you'll have to add your own graphics.
Two from Toto: Africa, Rosanna
Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear the Reaper
Oasis: Wonderwall
Meatloaf: Paradise by the Dashboard Lights
MORE COWBELL!!!
Link good for a week, then it's GONE FOREVER!!
