Puzzled: USB drive not read
Puzzled: USB drive not read
I picked up my RDX yesterday, took a USB thumb drive with me to try out on way home.. I can't get the system to recognize it. It's 128GB drive, so wondering if it was too big, I tried a 32GB drive I know worked in my MKX, still not read. I looked at the OM and it only says to plug it into the port inside the console where the ApplePlay connection is.. nothing comes up on the screen saying a new device is installed.
I know it's operator error but just have to find out what I am doing wrong..

UPDATE: Got it to load but had to go through my HUD to open USB port and read it.
FLAC files do not load, at least the 96K ones I created, both 96K and 48K WAV files do load and play. I tested out Deep Purple's Machine Head DVD-A rip to WAV. Wil lreport more as I test things

The salesman had no idea either since this is so new. The nav screen doesn't show the USB device. It damn well should be a selection/option. I have to figure out how to get it to show up there
OK, found where the icon for USB is on the nav screen, it's on the second page of the nav screen.. you have to flick the touchpad to the right to get to the other icons.
I was able to play 48K/24 flac files. I ripped the DVD-A of Alan Parsons Project - Turn of a Friendly Card to .FLAC.. beautiful.. just so awesome sounding in that 3D ELS

I know.. That really stinks doesn't it.. I had a Pioneer Head Unit in my last vehicle and it had two usb ports so I could do Android Auto and also listen to music from my USB drive at the same time.
I find it slightly annoying that you only get one usb interaction with the system. Would have been nice to have multiple.
Apparently the idea worked for this Toyota Avalon owner:

That would defeat the purpose.. You want to be able to use Android Auto AND listen to your music on the other USB drive. Hopefully Android Auto wireless will be supported in the vehicle when it becomes available
I get that but there’s only one usb tonselect from on the system, so the software can only support 1. If that’s what you’re after then I don’t see that working without a software update.
General Info here (This is probably a good place to put it). I finally got around to testing STEREO audio files (!!) in the car. I tried different configurations of .flac and .wav. Everything played fine except the 24/192 super hi-rez files I had from HDTracks. The system did not recognize that file.
It did fine with 16/44, 16/48, 24/44, 24/48, 24/96 both .flac's and .wav's. Even without the DTS Neural Surround, the system puts audio throughout the cabin, including the back roof speakers. I tried the DTS Neural Surround on some of the stereo files but quite honestly I did not hear a difference, but that could have been a function of the audio file not having a lot of inherent phase info.
