Had the stick plugged in for the entire 6 hour drive today. It flashes an "Updating Maps" message when plugged in. Never did complete the update, though. I'm still at 2021.08.xx. I was using the navigator the whole time. Hopefully, that doesn't block it. Need to check if the stick is formatted NTFS. Sometimes these things have to be formatted FAT. Any other ideas?
Best I can figure, it's a bad download. Doing another one - estimated to take 6 hours at hotel WiFi speeds...
One thought based on something Acura has stated in their instructions (per a posting here somewhere) is to not use Sandisk USB, no idea why. I used Sandisk several times on the RDX with no issues, but after that posting have switched to Best Buys store brand (...probably made by Sandisk) with no problems on that either. Normally the 'upload' of the map from the USB to the car is 45-55 minutes...for me.
I finally got the map updated. The trick seemed to be not driving the car. In spite of two 3 hour drives with the memory stick inserted, the database never did update. I let the car sit in the garage in Accessory 1 mode for an hour and a half. It loaded somewhere during that time. My understanding was that you were supposed to be able to use the system while it was being updated. That didn't seem to be the case for me.
If it's working like it did before, it should pop up something about updating the Map as soon as it detects the Map update in the USB stick. I'd just then wait. Listen to some podcasts, music. Once it's done, you'd get a notification on the screen that Map update is completed like the image below (that's from last year when I udpated the 2020 maps version). I know, not the most intuitive user interface/experience for updating a Map.
I also put together this Map update guide couple years ago, for those new to the Map update procedures.
I just updated my 2022 RDZ with the new map update, and I now have those background dots that you can see in the right Android Auto panel. They aren't super visible during the day, but at night, they are very obvious and rather distracting. I can't find a way to turn them off.....has anyone else noticed them after the update?
Successfully updated my Navigation to 2021.10.04 using a 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive, in Accessory Mode. Took about 20 minutes to download and 50 minutes to update my RDX Navigation.
Wait what?! 20 minutes? How? What about this 'updating in accessory mode without the engine running will destroy your battery!'
Have kept my maps up to date through 4/22. Got the notice, bought a new USB drive, downloaded the update. First try, turn on accessory mode, put in the USB stick...got the Map Updating message, left it for about an hour. Tried to see if it was done - dead battery. Well, at least I had to use my portable jumper to get it started. Attempt 2, I left the USB stick in and would see the Map Updating message as I drove around town. Longest drive was probably 1.5 hours. Still shows maps from 4/22. Third try, started my car, left the key on the seat, got to the navigation screen and saw Map Updating message. I left this stupid car idle for 1 full hour. Went out and turned the car off. Restarted it and wen't into Nav - still shows 4/22 maps. Screw it, I'm just going to continue to use Waze/Apple Maps/Google Maps. It sure would be nice if the Nav system would provide a status indicator or not RESTART the update from the beginning every single time the car restarts. How about it quickly scans to see where the last update stopped and just continue from there? I just totally wasted an hour of idling's worth of gas

You should be getting the "Map Update Complete" if it finishes. If you don't get that, it's not done. I put an 8A charger on the battery while it was in ACC2 mode. It took right at an hour to go in. It's worth keeping the database current, but not worth THAT much trouble.
