GPS direction request to Phone instead of Nav

This has happened the last two times I tried get directions from my nav. I press the voice button steering wheel and say "navigate to location." it then says it found the location, but it's not on my RDX nav, but rather on my iphone. My iphone is in my pocket. I don't want it on my phone. Why is my phone picking up the navigation when I press the voice button and not the car nav?

Is your phone connected via Bluetooth? If so that’s your problem, turn off Bluetooth in the infotainment system.

It is connected to bluetooth so I make and receive calls and occasionally play music from my iphone. It's been connected for a year and a half but this issue with the phone getting the directions is fairly new. I prefer not to disconnect bluetooth so I can receive calls via infotainment as I always have, on the other hand I don't want to have to hold my phone while driving. I know I could use carplay, but I'd rather use the regular car nav. Seems crazy that the phone is picking up the information when I press the car voice button.

When you press the voice button on the steering wheel don’t do a long press(2 seconds or longer press). When you do that it calls up Siri so do a short 1 to 1.5 second press of the voice button.

Appears that was the problem. I tried a couple destinations with a "quick press" this morning and the nav recognized it. Thanks for your help.
