Audio distortion

Has anyone else noticed audio distortion coming from the door speakers when bass is present or when a loud vocal is played. My passenger door speaker sometimes sounds distorted not sure it it is speaker or possibly it is rattling something inside door.

Could be a bad speaker or just a matter of something not tightened down properly - many possibilities. I've not noticed anything of that nature with mine.

I only notice it mainly on strong midrange vocals I can hear distortion. I am going to take to dealer and try to recreate to see if they can isolate and fix it. I got this car for the incredible audio system so I am frustrated.

Have had the car for 7 weeks and had some time to really work the sound system and I think i found the culprit for the strange sound and it is on certain material using the surround sound mode. If I turn off surround sound it goes away. I think that the algorithms for the surround could be creating a strange distorted sound only on certain mixes and frequencies. Since I turned it off the sound is pure and great.

Is this specific to 12 speakers or 16 speakers setup?

I have noticed this as well.

The “simulated” surround is total garbage.

No subwoofer output and terrible mix mix to all channels.

The DTS Fake Surround in this car really sucks compared to the Dolby Surround feature in the older RDX's. I would suggest leaving it turned off permanently. Unless you have actual 5.1 files to play (which sound amazing), just play the stereo files without the DTS Neural and it will sound fine.

My biggest complaint on this car is the audio. I find is harsh and mid-low's are missing. Volumes above 10 are painful. I can localize the music, it is not an immersive experience.
12 speakers, changed setting, tried different mp3's.
My next step is to turn off the ANC.

In reading the TLX & previous RDX forums there are similar complaints with the ELS system.

I turned off the surround sound and increased the roof volume 2 ticks and it sounds much better.

I too tunred off the surround sound and reset to factory settings. I have noticed a noise but I think it is coming from the right side ceiling speaker and it is rattling that corner panel at the sunroof area. All i have to do is put my hand and press up on that corner and the vibrating rattle goes away.

I have a rattle in my headliner by the speaker. When I pressed on it I noticed that the 2 headliner clips are broken and it doesn't pop into place. Every time I hit a bump or just round a corner it rattles. Check your headliner to make sure its popped in.

I got a weird rattle sounding speaker today for like 5 minutes, it sounded like the speaker was totally blown in the driver speaker, it was during certain midrange stuff, it then magically stopped doing it. Not really sure why it did this, I was playing it at low volume and it sounded like crap while it was happening.
