Apple Music File types for Audio

Looking for advice here and I hope I am not duplicating
RDX 2020 with regular audio
I can play my Apple Music AAC audio files but not the Lossless files from a thumbdrive. The files load up and start, the timeclock counts down, but no sound.
I have tried a few thumbdrives, no difference.
Suggestions?

I play AAC, MP3 files and FLAC files in my 2019 RDX Advanced. The RDX will not play ALAC files. I tried playing ALAC files in my RDX by accident one time and had the same results as you (files load and play, but no sound). I think that the FLAC files have to be 24-Bit and 96KHz or less to play in the RDX.

OK. I guess since I don't have the original Sources, I will convert them to AAC files. Thanks.

Or convert the ALAC files to FLAC, instead of AAC, and they will retain their lossless status. When you convert make sure you make them specifically 24bit-96khz for stereo tracks and 24bit-48khz for 5.1 surround tracks, it won't do anything for the sound but will make them recognizable to the RDX audio system.

Hey i converted plenty of flac files. I had used VLC to create playlist m3u as well. However the playlists in the RDX show the title of the playlist but with 0 songs.
Suggestions?
Second any chance of getting flac files to 5.1 surround format?

I'm not answering your question, but I just play Apple Music directly from my iphone using CarPlay and don't use the memory sticks so much. The same music can be listened in the car on the sound system and away from the car on the phone via airpods using the same source. Some of the newer songs are Apple's Dolby ATMOS format, but I am not sure if the sound system in the 2019 RDX Advance trim really supports that format to its fullest. I still have music on memory sticks that I play once in awhile, but am not investing any time tweaking those mp3s. Just playing as is. I had a 2004 TL RDX some time ago and had a handful of DVD audo disks that to me had the best sound of anything since then. It is a shame that technology faded. 5.1 sound is really in movie sound tracks more today than in music.

I got it to work
cmd prompt and create playlists using
dir /s/b *.flac > myplaylist.m3u (replace 'myplaylist' with whatever title you like)
I on the other hand wanted to make artist playlists, this way i can play random songs from the same artist.
Hope this helps

yes, for flac thats stereo. if flac 5.1, it is 48k.

look elsewhere on this site. there is plenty of information on what you seek on here.

this is not like FB where you need to ask the question and have everyone respond. You can actually search for the answer..... grasshopper..
