Apple Car Play not working
Apple Car Play not working
I haven't used apple car play in a while mostly because I use the car's navigation (2019 RDX with tech). I went to use car play and saw the car icon was grayed out even when I plugged in the iphone. It said that apple car play not available when I clicked on it. Wireless bluetooth is connected and I can use phone and pandora wirelessly without a problem. I know I have to plug in the phone into the arm rest console to get apple car play to work. No luck. Anyone have any thoughts on what I'm missing here? Thanks.
I tried that and thought it would work as carplay was off in allowed apps. I turned it on but CP remained unavailable. Siri works through the car via voice command, but no apple car play. I appreciate your help but that's not it.
see if this thread helps, your USB port might not be working at all, not just car play

I've had that issue before....my recommendation is to ensure you have a good quality usb phone-charger cord. Next I would perform the factory infotainment reboot. Has worked well since! Attaching a video showing how to perform reboot....good luck!

No, I have not lost any radio presets when rebooting. It does not appear to 'wipe' or clear the system, only a shut down and restart. Hope that helps! Also, I've rebooted while driving and the system restarts and works flawlessly....haven't seen a down-side to rebooting the system.
Reboot, reset, new cables, nothing helps in my case. I have an issue when rear view camera is engaged while system
boots. Dont know if its my car in particular, or all, maybe advance is different than aspec

I had similar issues a year+ ago, Acura did an over-the-air system update and I ensured phone software was up to date (iPhone XR and now a 13) and it has worked flawlessly (knocking on wood)!!! Won't lie, first two years of living with Car Play were frustrating and bug-riddled. Wonder if dealer can wipe and reinstall the infotainment software?

was your issue related to hitting reverse while infoteinment still boots? If I wait until it boots before hitting reverse, CarPlay works. Its annoying because sometimes you in a rush, u start engine, put in reverse to backout, next thing u know USB port/CarPlay not working until reboot

Unfortunately that was not my issue (reversing before system boots), my issue was the usb port was just unresponsive regardless of situation. That seemed to fix itself with a reboot and Acura over-air updates. Hoping the dealer can fix your issue as the system doesn't boot up quickly! Godspeed!!
What russianDude says....I have learned this lesson well. Just wait, after starting the car, phone unplugged, for the whole infotainment screen to go through its gyrations until its on the screen with the apps. Then plug in your phone. You should then see the grayed out Car Play words turn whatever color they do. On the upside, consider that you are giving your engine proper time to distribute oil, etc. while you are waiting for the screen to get to the apps screen. I don't think I have had a single issue since following this. To repeat russian, don't start your car and hit reverse....the odds of car play working are nil. Maybe 2022 models have gotten past this, I don't know, but I have a 2019, kind of the king of the not-Acuras-best-effort.

I tried to do this, but I sometimes forget, Infoteinment does not forget though 😀
I have this problem only when I hit reverse to engage rear view camera before system fully boots.

I did the 3 button reboot and nothing changed. I also tried to remove and reinstall carplay on the iphone, but once removed it can't find the acura to reinstall. Just keeps searching. It does recognize bluetooth for calls and phone music. Just the wired part like for maps continues to not work. As mentioned I tried different cords. The phone does charge when I plug it in. I'm stumped.
IT'S WORKING. I went to system settings in the RDX, advanced settings and carplay and saw that it was in the disable mode. Have no idea how that happened, but I changed to enable and it's working fine. Thanks.
but does it still work when you put car in reverse before it fully boots ? 😀
I have an update on this. I repaired my bluetooth but this time only selected phone and not music audio. I always listen music through carPlay, so pairing with bluetooth audio is not necessary. This somehow makes carplay work all the times and when I reverse…. So far worked many times, I am amazed
