XM or Sirius?

I’ve had XM since 2003, but I did have Sirius for awhile. I found Sirius so much better in sound and the interface was better too at the time. Since XM and are Sirius are under one umbrella I was wondering why Acura still goes with XM and not the superior Sirius, even though both are too compressed for truly great sound in the RDX. What do you other members think?

As you said, it's one company and they are now called SiriusXM.

It's just one company, been that way for YEARS. I do remember the Sirius versus XM times a long time ago. If you want better sound stream XMSirius on your phone via a usb cable, less compression I believe but definitely sounds better.

The way I understand it, they aren't under one umbrella....they are one umbrella. Sirius doesn't exist anymore and either does XM. They were merged into one company called "SiriusXM"

There was a period where some cars had XM hardware and others had Sirius hardware. I lived in Chicago at the time and found the XM hardware was better but that was a long time ago. I don't believe there are different Sirius and XM radios anymore.

Sorry about that. I contacted SiriusXM directly, and yes they do offer three different compression platforms—Sirius, XM, and Sirius XM. Depending on your vehicle, you will have one of the three services if you have a receiver in your vehicle. In my initial post I was just asking why Acura does not have Sirius as I think it sounds better than XM or SiriusXM. Oh, and Bruce, with a thick accent, tried to sell me a Lynx radio with a great offer, but it was for a limited time only. Oy vey!

This is true, but even over Bluetooth it will sound much better. The OTA signal is way too compressed to listen to in better sound systems.
