Why do some people suck?
This afternoon, we went to a Home Depot to pickup some supplies to help out my parents. I always park far from the store, as I take care of my vehicles and hate door dings. My brother, who is visiting from out of town, came as well, driving his rental car, as there were %of us and we needed a lot of supplies. The lot is on a slope, and my brother parked on the uphill side of me. I was happy about this, as if someone let a shopping cart go, it would hit the rental, and not my car.
Anyway, when we returned from making our purchases, there was an overturned “flatbed” cart right next to my RDX on the downhill side. When we got to the car, we noticed a big orange scrape on the front bumper. There was no way this could have happed by accident. WTF is wrong with people?

I hear ya! I just picked up my new RDX this past Monday, but I try to park away as well. I've noticed, no matter how far away I park, there's always that one douche bag that has to park way out there right next to me...and the kicker is, it's usually not that nice of a car either. I don't understand people either. I hope that you're able to buff that scratch out - post some pics of it.
First of all, some people *do* suck and I'm really sorry that happened to you. It's annoying anytime, but especially when you go out of your way to protect your vehicle.
That being said, it does sound like it could have actually been an accident. Could the flatbed have gotten loose, rolled down the slope in such a way as to bypass the rental and hit your car, then flipped over? It just seems hard to believe anyone would go that far out of their way to cause intentional (yet mainly aesthetic) damage to your car...

Years ago, my GTI was parked (as always) way far away from the stores in a small strip mall; it was obvious I was parking defensively. When I returned, I discovered that a person of questionable character had removed the valve cores from 2 tires. They thoughtfully placed them on the ground next to the tires. Luckily, I had a valve key in my tool kit (!) and a can of fix-a-flat. Those things, along with the spare, got me to an air station.
Yes, some people would seem to operate at a negative pressure.
