Ventilated Seats

Hi all,

What exactly is with all of the hype about ventilated leather seats? I honestly don't get it. I have been using them lately, and honestly, I don't notice any difference. What am I doing wrong? I have used both seats, and neither one of them seems to be any cooler with the feature turned on. I have also tried them in my wife's 22' Subaru Legacy XT Touring. I swear, they do absolutely nothing!

I guess I am expecting too much... I could understand if they were AC cooled, but the current setup seems pointless to me... Just my opinion.

The temp depends on how thick your pants or shorts are, keep in mind
its not supposed to be ac for your rectum its supposed to cool the seat to dissipate heat for less burning in hot temps

I think they're great and are one of the more useful features of the car. They work fine for us. I can definitely tell when they're running. But maybe I just have a more sensitive rear end...

Then again, I seem to be one of the few here who think the A/C system works fine.

FWIW, we live near Phoenix AZ where temps have been over 110F several times over the last couple weeks.

I have never had cooled seats of any kind before. There are supposedly fan, or ventilated type (cool), and then there are air conditioned (coolest) type. These RDX are the less cool type 'fan'. Living in the great southwest with black seats, either variety are a must have on our next car, just as having a heated steering wheel was in Reno. I am quite happy with them and surprised you don't notice any difference. Freezing? No, but definitely a help.

Just a fan under each seat with perforated seats (for the air to come through). Not AC seats, just moving cooler air (cold air falls) through the seat. Once the RDX gets cooler inside, you tend to notice it more. They help a lot in the oven baked Texas summers. 1st vehicle with them, noticeable - but not a total game changer.

The "only a fan, not a/c" was news to me. The width of the perforated section is also not very wide, which doesn't help. Doesn't work as well as in my Arteon, but still a lot better than nothing.

It was a must-have feature for me. I notice it the most on longer trips because you don’t have that stale feeling from sticking to the seat for 2 hours. I’ve used the AC-infused ones on Buick rentals, and they’re crazy cold in comparison but I’m still happy with Acura’s version.

I love them. Especially after BJJ or weights or on 100*F days. Maybe if you didn't grow up with non-ventilated vinyl seats from the 70s and 80s, you don't know what hell really is.

Driving from Phoenix to Yuma in the summer to visit the in-laws in a car without A/C (1964 Dodge Dart) is pretty close.

Un-ventilated vinyl seats too...

115F here today....

I've notice around 80 degrees or below, I could feel to fans cooling the seats. Around 85 degrees and above, it's too hot to feel the fans. Almost like the seats are blowing hot air.
