I haven't been using the USB for a memory stick with my own music, but the idea is appealing, especially since I just got a 64gb stick so I could upgrade the maps and it has no use otherwise. But I don't want to have my USB stick in there, only to have to remove it to use my ACP. Does anyone know if a USB splitter (aka hub) can be used to connect multiple devices to the infotainment system at the same time, i.e. a USB stick for MP3s and a phone at the same time?
but b/c it is a hub, even though you can turn one off and the other on, the car detects it as a hub, and says 'no-go'. I have looked at actual splitters that enable a keyboard and mouse work with different computers upon a manual switch. They look a bit cumbersome...
no power supply needed.
just a few short patch lines. should work as well as a hub. It is not a hub. The car can only use one peripheral at a time, so this switch should work, since thats what it does. I might just grab one to try...
Well let me know how that goes. I have an HDMI switcher that works that way, so maybe it would work. But I also have a USB hub that has switches like that, but I think it still works as a hub - it’s just that the switches turn certain ports off.

right. it is a hub if it has only one input and multiple outputs. If you look at my first link, that is the hub I tried, with little switches (switches there for convenience). When the car plugs into it, it asks if it is a hub, and if the response is yes, then it shuts it down. I believe the usb switches are just a hard wire switch with an electronic internal switch. The car still sees one peripheral. It makes sense, I just could not find a switch a couple months back. Now I see there are a few.
It was initially disabled and I enabled it. Now all I need is a USB Hub to try it out.
you can go ahead and try it, I already have. It did not work for me. I even tried a USB switch which is not a hub and that didn’t work either. I enabled /disabled also.

Well it was worth the try. Maybe there is a software aspect that has to be “turned on” for it to work??? I’m no super tech geek just a slightly average geek!!!

that was my guess also. Look earlier in this thread and see all the tests we did. Go for it!

Yeah, poke around those menus and you'll see provisions for a world of shit that's simply not implemented in the RDX. It appears they may have aspirations for lots of future expansion. Makes you wonder if there's wiring for data from those other USB ports to a hub in the head unit. All they might have to do is develop the driver software. There are already separate menus for Bluetooth and USB audio on the home screen.
