2025 RDX: I tried to use the USB audio this week but was not able to get it to work. The USB drive is connected to the USB port inside the armrest. When I select the USB Audio app, I get an error message saying that USB Audio cannot be used when Apple Car play is in use (or something like that). It immediately then connects to my phone and tries to play audio.

I tried turning off Bluetooth on my phone, but still the RDX will not play the USB drive (still complains about Apple Car play being connected).

Any suggestions?

 

What formats are your audio files. At least on my 2022 RDX I use FLAC and the system works fine. I

 

Mostly .mp3 formatted files.
Odd behavior as these all worked on my 2019 RDX. Just cannot get it working on the 2025 RDX.

 

MP3 files should be fine. Although for an older MDX, see if the thread at USB Audio issue is of any help.

 

Thanks for the links. Good read. Seems MDX users have the same issue I'm facing (cannot use USB Audio when Apple Carplay is connected).
Seems Apple limits what music you can play (iTunes only files or music from Apple Phone) when Carplay is activated.

The solutions they presented are not very good:

1. Turn off Carplay (using setting in RDX menu). But of course, this means I can't use Maps.
2. Move the Music to my phone (I guess I could try this).
3. Get a Paid Subscription and stream from my phone.

NOTE: I did not have this issue with the 2019 RDX, so must be a limitation of some new version of Apple Carplay.
