2016 RDX smartphone audio trouble

I've tried everything. I even had the Acura dealership mechanic adjust settings in the car. Audio still won't come through my phone or the car when I'm using any directions app -(Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze) I don't use any other phone app while driving (like music) so I don't know if other audio options are also not working. The phone has been paired with the car so calls come through the vehicle just fine. It's aggravating and I don't want to have to keep reading the directions on the phone instead of hearing them because it's dangerous to be looking at the phone instead of the road. HELP!

Do you have the audio system set to use the bluetooth audio as the source? If you don't, you won't hear the phone audio. If it's an iPhone, which it appears it is, there are also known issues with them working through bluetooth. Try playing some music on the phone and see if that works.

OK, so I had a similar issue, I will have everything ringing in the car speakers, automatically transfer from the phone into the car speakers and microphone (apparently works better than the phone service w/ some sort of inline amplifier) however, after it would finish ringing due to someone answering or go to voicemail, It would go right back to the phone and usually on speakerphone or headset in answer privately in “Private Mode” on Navi Screen…

… Well, come to find out it was my error because I smarted off to Siri one time & she really actually listen to me and did something I told her to do sarcastically and I discovered the other day when I was talking about call routing, in an RDX Facebook group and I realized “oh shit it’s my fault!”

If you go to settings and go to accessibility under accessibility, go to touch, (yes there a weird spot, a very weird spot to put that as I would have placed it in Bluetooth>HandsFreeLink list of options) and you go to the very bottom it’ll say “call routing” make sure it is set to “automatic” then it will it should work then after that just make sure your auto transfer is on in the car and that you’re on audio is that on your Bluetooth on your audio on your radio Richard play Pandora through the Bluetooth. I’ve discovered that’s on the way to do it but yeah I just covered out the wrong it’s in settings.

This is an iPhone iOS 18 developer beta that I am in right now, but this is 2024 too…

IN SUMMATION/CLIFF NOTES/READERS DIGEST VERSION:

On iPhone (iOS 18 Developer Beta here):
Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Call Routing > “Automatic”

On the Vehicle Navi Screen (top non-touchscreen):
Press Phone Button > Settings Button > Auto Transfer > “ON”
-OR-
Settings Button > Phone Settings > Auto Transfer > “ON”
-OR-
*methinks there is a 3rd way thru the DICk, using the Steering Wheel Controls… but the process escapes my memory at the moment*
EDIT: DIC is short for Driver Information Center, & I named mine “Richard” after Dick Van Dyke & Janice’s husband in the WKUK LMAO

Then on ELS Radio:
Run ALL AUDIO, everything thru the Bluetooth connection so you will hear the music, calls, turn by turn from Waze etc—if u need to charge ur phone, charge it thru a DC Cigarette Lighter Adapter or it will ALWAYS DEFAULT to USB or iPod which is SUPER ANNOYING as I like Pandora…

hope this helps!
