Transmission shudder low speeds and light throttle

well I have had this happen to my twice now, the first time was back in November, the car was outside in the 40 degree weather, this time it was in a heated parking garage. What happens is right after starting up and driving, if your giving it really light gas, just enough to move, I was coasting/light gas going about 5-10mph, and then all of a sudden the transmission shudders, like it’s trying to shift and it shakes the car a good amount, for a good half a second to a second like it can’t decide what gear to pick. It shakes the car a good amount and then it’s fine after that. I have only had this happen twice but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. Both times it was within about 5-10 seconds after taking off and driving, and very low speeds with almost no throttle but just enough to get the car moving. I’m not gonna bother with the dealer unless it because reproducible on demand, but it just seems odd for a car this new to have acted like this.

Praying it won't be a repeat of the 2000's fiasco.

5 speed to a 10 speed. Double the gears with half the problems! Or not?

1. The torque converter clutch on modern automatics locks up as soon as the vehicle starts moving in the interest of performance and fuel economy. This is like fully releasing the clutch pedal with a manual transmission.

2. The 10-speed automatic has a super low first gear.

3. The transmission wants to get out of first as soon as possible for fuel economy. This happens at very low speeds under light throttle. In fact, when I pulled forward out of my garage onto a level driveway, creep alone would speed the vehicle up enough for a 1-2 shift even without touching the throttle.

All three of these factors combine to cause a mild bucking sensation under certain conditions that feels similar to someone learning how to drive a manual for the first time.

It may not be desirable, but it sounds normal.

Lol exactly! Wish they would have just did a 7 or 8 speed vs a 10 speed. Oh well by the time I'm ready to buy it will be well documented if anything is up.

Zero problems with the transmission for me. No noises, no shudders, no rough shifting.....smooth a s butter.

I just had this happen again this morning, was speeding up probably in 2nd or 3rd gear, it went to go into the next gear and it was like it was stuck switching, and my car started shaking for a second and then finally shifted, it doesn’t feel nice at all, this is the 3rd time I have had this happen since September when I first bought the car. Not really sure what to do, I could take it to the dealer and hope it reproduces, but they are 2 hours away and it hasn’t happened a lot, it only happens once then it’s done and especially once it warms up there are no issues

Had this happen a few times this weekend on the highway. Temperatures dropped to around 30 degrees so not sure if that was a reason. Car was fully warmed up it was on the way home.

so when it happened to you at highway speeds, was it just a bad jerk, or like a bunch of small jerks like it couldn’t decide what to do? Almost felt like it was shaking/skipping

No jerking. Just when I accelerated the car shook and it was sputtering to gain speed. I backed off the throttle immediately. It wasn't like I floored it either. I had a similar unresolved issue with a former Subaru Legacy turbo.

had shifting issues took to dealer Invoice says “found there is a pgm-fi software update. Performed update and idle relearned”

shifting issues are now fixed!

smooth going between 2nd and 3rd gear now where before there was a shudder/rough shifting

is it smooth on a cold start up and giving it very little gas while driving, that tends to be how I get the most jerking or rough shifts
