Thud noise when shifting from Park to Drive
I was at the drive through ATM, and applied the parking brake, and also put the car in park. There was a moderate forward slope at that point. The engine was running. After I had finished, I shifted from park to drive, and then heard a pretty loud thud sound apparently from the wheels or the transmission. The car had a small jerk. The drive afterwards was normal.
Anything to be concerned with here? Did I do anything wrong that could potentially damage the car?

Happens to me intermittently as well. Do not think it is anything to be concerned about.

I believe this is normal. I have this on my other car as well.

The parking brake has a small activation/deactivation time. You can hear it with the windows rolled down.
After deactivating the parking brake, wait a second or two before shifting to drive. I think the noise comes with the parking brake still partially activated. Once I started doing this, I haven't had the car rolling or the sound again.

Also, don’t rest the weight of the car on the transmission pawl, use the parking brake. Make sure the parking brake is thoroughly engaged before putting the car in park, or back into drive or reverse.

If I'm parking on a steep hill, I will park, put the car into Park, keep my foot on the brake, and put on the parking brake. Only then will I release my foot on the brake. The car will usually shift slightly (to whatever direction is downhill) at that point. I'm assuming that the parking brake is catching the weight of the car, but I don't know. When it comes time for me to drive away, I will turn on the car, put my foot on the brake, release the parking brake, and then put it in drive (or reverse). I've never had any issues with that (the car does not lurch and there is no clunking).

If I am at an ATM, toll booth, or parking garage ticket dispenser, I just leave the car in drive in that it is not that different than being at a red light.
If I park on a very level surface like inside my garage as an example, I just go from drive to park without using the parking brake.
If I park on even a slight incline, I put it in neutral, engage the parking brake and then put it in park. When ready to go again, I go from park to drive or reverse and then take off the brake.
Using this approach, I have never had a thud sound in over a year with the vehicle.

2020 TLX Park To D jerk
Got a jerk going from Park to Drive and Drive to Reverse Park to Drive as well. Foot was on the brake and parking brake not applied. Is this normal for the 2020 TLX
also there is a slight jerking shifting from 1st gear into second is that normal? Found this on a test drive

the jerk everyone feels is the car releasing the parking prawl that has weight on it from being on a slope, it’s normal

Mine doesn’t clunk, but when shifting from park to reverse, it “engages/clunks” twice. This is not on a hill either, but flat level surface. I will hit reverse, it will engage reverse, then 1 second later, it will “shift” again, before I have released the brake pedal. I don’t push it, I let it do this before moving.

No clunk but when I start the car and it's still cold, with my foot firmly on the brake and I put it in reverse, I feel three distinct mechanical transitions over 1-2 seconds. It will only happen once when first starting the car.
I sometimes feel a clunk when putting the car in gear if I'm on a grade. Same as most cars I've owned when the transmission pops out of the parking pawl.
