Is there a limit on how many keys can be programmed to car?

Like the title says, is there a limit? I have to back to my dealer to get them to install my remote start, when i took the car home with me the sales person told me to bring both keys back when I returned and they would give me the two keys with remote start buttons, but I kindof want to keep a third as a spare, so i was wondering if there is a limit?

That's interesting, my dealer told me that if we were to get the remote system installed, that it comes with the 2 additional keys, and so we'd really have 4 keys, and just from the key cost alone it is almost a wash. Obviously the standard keys wouldn't have the remote start capability, but would have 2 "spares"

I have the Acura "Accessory" remote start in my RDX.
You should get your 2 original key fobs back, plus the two new "2-way remote start" fobs. Any of the 4 can start the vehicle.
As you said, these are useful for backups (in case one gets damaged) or if you need to give a key to a valet.

yes will work as a spare? As far as valet i could just separate the key from the remote.

As everyone stated, you will get back the two original fob remotes.

Recently had Remote Start installed on my RDX A-Spec and my dealer gave me back my original keys. Now I have 4 and they all work. I just need to get 2 replacement mechanical keys.

Yea I was asking initially, because the rep told me otherwise, I had it installed on Tuesday and got 4 keys in return.

Yea I don't see the need for the mechanical keys. When I had my TL I had 2 keys, my buddy lost one when I asked him to move my car, while I was on vacation, and I never lost the second key. These keys are much bigger and I cant imagine losing them, also don't know how much getting them reproduced would cost.

If you give the key to a valet, he can unlock the car, but how can he start it? Doesn't he need the fob?

Don't the remote start fobs come with keys that just need to be cut?

you give the remote to the valet, and keep the key for yourself in case you want to lock something in the glove compartment.

My 2 remote with "remote start button" did not come with keys, I just added my two original keys to the "remote start" remotes.. if that makes sense? so now I have two remotes that will lock and start the car but will not start the car or lock the glove compartment.

I guess, for what they charge, throwing in at least blank keys is expecting too much. Unbelievable.
