Tailgate Object Detection?

Hi,

I have a 2021 RDX ASPEC, I wanted to know if the Tailgate can detect if there is something above it when opening it. I usually leave the tailgate at its highest setting, since I'm quite tall but now due to winter, I park the rdx in the garage and I'm worried that the tailgate would hit the top of my retracted garage door when I open it. I know this can be fixed with lowering the height of the tailgate but just wanted to know if it can detect if an object is close to it and stop.

Yes it can! Happened to me 2 days ago. The tailgate hit my bike hanging from the ceiling in the garage and stopped once it met some resistance and you get a lot of beeping.

Perfect! Thanks for letting me know! Hope the tailgate wasn't scuffed or anything.

It does take a bit of resistance to make the tailgate stop. I parked my RDX in the garage of our vacation home with a lower garage door height. The car was new so as the tailgate rose, I grabbed it instead of pressing the button. I was surprised how much resistance it took, and am convinced it would have sustained some type of damage if it had hit the door.

It will stop, but it can still get scratched.

You can stop it each time by pushing the button that closes it while the tailgate is raising. I believe if you push and hold it, the height will be set.
