NFC on RDX?

This announcement says that NFC car unlocking (and even key replacement?) could be coming to iOS: https://www.engadget.com/2020/02/06/...&utm_source=dl
But is the RDX even equipped with NFC? I think this is different than the typical door fob tech.
Even if it were equipped, I guess it requires Acura to integrate, so we all know how long that would take...

Bummer. One of the things I liked about the F-Pace was the "activity bracelet" which I think was NFC. Could be used to leave the keys in the car while running/kayaking/whatever and then open the door on return. Thought it would be nice to have that in the RDX with my Apple Watch.

Nosing around the diagnostic menus I thought I saw a reference to NFC. Not sure. There may be provisions for it, just not implemented.

In this BMW commercial, the chick unlocks the car with her cell phone. All this tech seems like more ways for people to get the keys to your car without having to get the keys to your car.

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata has this technology but currently works with Android phones since Apple hasn't implemented it yet. Saw that explained on an episode of RedLine Reviews.

I can't believe you made me watch that commercial.

As long as there's biometric confirmation, I'm okay with having a cell phone (or watch) unlock my car.

Yeah, made you look ...

Biometrics can be hacked too. And then, they gotcha. Fingerprints, face, retinas, etc. Can't change them like a password.

There is a NFC provision in the diagnostic menu. It's under UNIT CHECK. Mine is red as in not connected.

NFC doesn't need a network or service.
