Just got my 2019 RDX Advance last night, and when I was sitting in it getting acquainted with things, I noticed a quiet but audible hiss. I was setting up the infotainment center, so figured it was because it was on, even though the sound was off.. Today, when I was is the car with nothing on at all, I still heard it, and it is definitely coming from the speakers. Anyone else notice this? I do have excellent hearing, but it is annoying.

 

Might be the Active Noise Cancellation, which is on all the time. Just speculation on my part.

To the OP, was the engine running? Was the sound system primed to input engine noise into the cabin?

 

I hear none and never have. Since day one. Did you check the audio settings? Maybe the treble is cranked to the max?

Did you by any chance have the ACC power on? That would activate some of the A/V components and ANC could be one of them.

If you shut power off but, have not yet opened the driver's door, the audio system is still active.

I can't judge because I suffer from Tinnitus and hear hissing 24/7 no matter where I am. If the speakers were hissing, I'd never know.

 

But in this case, I entered the car from the passenger side to put stuff in the glove box.

I heard it too. You can reproduce this by:
1) unlock the car using the driver-side door handle
2) get in the driver seat
3) close the door.
4) The Acura video should play in the dash. After the video, the dash turns off, and you can heard the hiss from the speaker. Note, I never touched the "start" button.

I was able to turn off it off once, but I forgot the sequence. It got something to do with the using the central lock button to lock all the doors (and turn off the interior lights).

 

This little story can show you what a maroon I can be. My first drive was in a '19 A-Spec. It was a hot day and the ventilated seats were on high. I kept hearing this sound like rushing air..or like speaker hiss. I finally realized it was the action of the seat fans doing their job.

Follow up on my post, I was in the car reading the manual (my wife expects me to sleep in the car one night), again with no power on, and the hiss sound stopped after a few minutes. It makes senses that it's the ANC.
