Was it the wiper that made contact with a wall, and pushed in the glass? Or did the composite hatch flex enough to pop the glass?
Im not really sure i think the wiper pushing on the glass because thats the first thing it touches, ive tapped it briefly before but this time even though i was backing up slowly I wasn’t paying attention and it popped
UGH! Glass can be relatively easily replaced, just parts replacement. Painted areas would have required a visit to body shop and paint work. I think you got off easily considering!
Don't forget that the entire rear door assembly is largely non-metallic, so "dent" repair is not on the menu. Likewise the rear bumper cover is non-metallic and is one piece around the entire rear from wheel well to wheel well. I dinged mine 6 days after taking delivery. High tuition in the school of life!
I have a pair of these in my garage. You can anchor them but you don't have to, and I didn't. They stay put. The beeping goes increasingly nuts, right to flatline. I butt up to them, foot on the brake, Reverse, then Park. The car backs off from them about an inch.
