Power Folding Mirrors

Does anyone know if the 2021 RDX Advance has added power folding exterior mirrors? Only Canadian models have had it in the past. I see it listed in the 2021 owners manual, but not sure if that only applies to Canadian vehicles.

I also looking for one for my A-Spec. I was able to find one in Chinese website https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?sp...=3953445537789 cost about $767 exclude shipping. I figure shipping will cost $50+ at least.

Highly doubt any changes such as power folding mirrors for the US have been added to the 2021 model. It should be a literal copy of the 2020 model and 2019 model.

$1300 for the option kit, plus (who knows?) installation. I might have been willing to pay maybe half that as an option when I bought the car but that's not worth it.

Absolutely baffling that it's not offered in US models, especially considering it was on previous generations. I sometimes park next to Gen2 RDX at work and his mirrors are always folded.

AND I have seen folded mirrors (most likely powered) in parking lots, on much lower priced vehicles. I always do a double-take when I see this. Shameful, Acura. Not that I personally have any use for them, just saying....but there are many who DO.

Surprised to see this thread back after over a year.

Super annoying to not have this feature, especially if you live in a busy city with tight streets.

My 2016 Advance does not have them either so they took them away a while ago. And while it would be nice to have I sure wouldn't pay anything close to $1300+ for them. Probably not even close to half of that.

Agreed 110% ... should have been standard on all RDX trims!

If the Advance had them, that is the one option that would have moved me up to the Advance. My garage is tight and folding mirrors were a big help on my last car. I don’t know why this ‘premium’ brand did not offer them at all.

Acura is really messing up on not including some of these key features that exist in German competition. I was looking at the TLX type S, but it’s lacking a lot of features that an s4/s5 Audi has at middle of the run trim levels, like rain sensing wipers for example.
maybe their consumer analysis showed that it’s a vocal minority that needs power folding mirrors? Idk

Not even German but brands like Lexus and Genesis have power folding mirrors on their SUVs. Not sure what gives

My (new) son-in-law just bought a new Ford Ranger pickup. He took us out to dinner a couple nights ago, turned the truck off...and...the mirrors folded in. Come on Acura...a Ford mini-pickup has them, but you don't even offer them (except to Canada)!

Hopefully Acura drops in once in a while . . . gratis consumer feedback!
4x options would make the RDX king:
1. power folding mirrors
2. power tilt/telescoping steering wheel
3. adaptive headlights
4. reclining rear sets

Reclining rear seats sound a little unneeded. It's supposed to be a practical car, not exactly a luxury, maybe in the Advanced model but can't imagine that as an A-spec. At least throw in wireless AA/CP and interior lighting.

And touchscreen! Or maybe a round dial if they don’t wanna add touchscreen (which is crazy since everyone else has done touchscreen)-I’d be fine with that too. Anything but the true touchpad and laggy apple care play mouse feature. I would consider staying with the RDX if they would make these changes but sadly I don’t think they will make any of these changes.

I had 1, 2, and 3 on my prior car and I miss them.

No kids anymore, so rear seats don’t interest me.

Well the MDX should've at least offered the option. Don't know why they haven't. There's obvious reasons why Lexus will win over Acura direct segment competitions. But if I want a 3rd row seat, MDX is gonna win over the RX/RXL, RX450h is gonna be a separate story. And just to stay relevant, at least it has power folding mirrors.
I'm sure all of us on this forum for the RDX just wants it to do better, despite so much other vehicles releasing as better specs. It'd be sad if it falls behind other competitors by that much these next 2-3 years for the refresh model without anything new.

The car I traded in for my RDX had all four of the features on your list. I, too, am baffled as to why #1 is missing. You pay 50K for a car (I have the PMC version) you should have power-folding mirrors. That missing feature alone would have stopped me from buying any other RDX except the PMC.

What's the big deal about folding mirrors? Sorry, I just don't understand why it seems to be such a big issue for many people.

It’s an issue for those of us who live in crowded cities or park in tight spaces

Tight garage space, so fighting against the other cars mirrors and side of garage as you enter.
Tight parking spaces.
Not the biggest thing, but since Acura already makes them for the car (Canada models)...why would they choose to not offer them in the US?

I measured my power folding 2020 RDX mirrors today. In case anyone is interested, the car is a foot narrower when retracted.

Me very envious of your folding mirrors. Me = lower window, reach over and grab mirror, fold it in, raise window. Will wear out the window motor and spring in the mirror.

Power Folding Side Mirrors

The big deal about power folding side mirrors is the ease of not having to worry about your side mirrors getting hit or snag at least its tucked in folded. Kinda the same as wearing a cordless ear bud to the a corded one in your phone because eventually it’ll get snagged. Acura let us down or they are smart. Why didn’t they add it folding?

Any idea where we can order a set of them folding mirrors? Help. I envy those that got theirs from Canada. Sucks.

Hmmm...I've been driving for almost 60 years, more cars & trucks than I can remember in several countries, but I've never had a car with power folding mirrors and never had one get hit or snagged. I guess I've been lucky.

As always, YMMV...

Consider yourself lucky. I have had a few vehicles with non folding total fixed position side mirrors in my life. Have jabbed myself in the side a few times over those years 😖

In a one car garage, it makes it way easier to pull in, and more room to walk around the car.

It’s very simple to check if the car is locked by looking at the position of the mirrors. The mirrors only automatically retract when you lock the car.

We used to open and close windows with a crank and had to find a pay phone if we needed to make a call. Life was hard and we liked it.

Seriously, the lack of power folding mirrors was the main reason I took RDX off my list. My Honda Passport has them, my neighbor's Mazda CX5 has them. To me it's a must have.
