It doesn't stop working. That's like saying don't use your turn signals too often or they might stop working. That's nonsense. I've been driving for 50 years and have never experienced a turn signal being worn out from over use. My last car had power folding mirrors. I used them all the time. They are extremely handy when pulling into your garage or a narrow outdoor parking space.

I had my 535 for 12 years and 120K miles, and the folding mirrors never stopped working and I folded them every time I parked in my garage which was every time I drove it.

you comparing the need to use turn signals to power folding mirrors?
one is a necessary safety requirement, the other is a convenience feature.

I personally do not like to have features that are not very useful to me and may only cost me money when my car gets older.

I'm in the US and have a 21 RDX Advance and it doesn't have power folding mirrors. The Advance package across models are not equal as my 2019 TLX Advance had them, but the 2021 RDX does not. Very disappointing

If they were on the Advance, I would have gone from the Tech to the advance despite not liking the wheels.

And that’s a $5,000 difference.

We went from an EX to an EX-L for my wife’s Accord because the EX-L had memory seats.

Turn the feature off if you don't like it. That's the beauty of buying a fully loaded car.

100's of expensive repairs can go wrong with your car and you're worried about power folding mirrors failing? Yikes.

You mentioned cost, so you are a guy who worries about money. Then think about this: Convenience features are important for premium brands. Without convenience features your resale could be negatively affected. In five years almost every new premium brand car will have power-folding mirrors. Your trade-in doesn't have them. Your current RDX that you are trying to sell/trade-in is devalued because you lack power-folding mirrors.

With Russiandude logic. They buy a FWD RDX because its saves on cost and you don't really need the complicated expensive SH-AWD.

In certain cities power folding mirrors is necessary. It should atleast be offered as an option to please the luxury crowd acura is amazing for.

Sice Acura has them, and puts them on Canadian cars, there should be a way to make them available in the States.

Probably can look into sourcing from China. People there are able to magically get MDX Type-S wheels before the car goes on sale. CDM has folding mirrors at least on the top trim I think.

I am actually for SH-AWD. At least its an option. To make everyone happy, it would be nice to have power folding mirrors as option, this way people that need it will get it, and some will not.

Right, put it on one of the trims, or make it a dealer accessory.

What a shame.

I have about 3" on both sides.

This reminds me doing the same to my TSX years ago, but to the passenger side mirror, and shattered 1/3 of the plastic cover with a loud bang. It was right when I had to leave for a road trip. Yes tight garage and I'm usually careful and back out slowly, but happened to be rushing out that day.

If people in the US keep buying these Acuras in spite of all the missing features, then they’ll never add those features. It’s pretty simple.

HAH!! Just think about Camaros and Firebirds. They were the most horrible pieces of shit for more than two decades but people kept buying them anyway. Why should GM make them any better? Each generation got worse, not better.

Until the insurance prices exploded in the '90s. That's what it took to kill them. For what insurance companies charged to insure them, you could buy a new one every 3 years.

Oh, but I loved our RED '70 Camaro w/Hurst 4 speed V8 when I owned it in the 70's! (Photo taken atop Mt. Wilson, notice KCOP Ch 13 in LA sign) I don't remember, but it doesn't look like it even had a right side door mirror! I am surprised as I always put them on if they didn't come with the car. Poor quality photo scanned from the original.

IIRC, you're right...right side mirrors were not standard on many (most?) cars. In fact, I don't think outside mirrors were standard at all on many (most?). Many things we take for granted on cars now were either options or not available at all except after-market, like heaters or radios or carpeting or padded dashboards.

This is not the solution to the missing power mirrors, but it helps me at least cope with this. I have a single car garage bay with just about 3 inches clearance on each side of the car. As I approach my driveway with my RDX (2019 Advance trim), right after I push the programmed button to open the garage door, I depress the camera button twice on the wiper bar and lines appear on the screen, perfectly lined up with the edges of the garage door opening frame if I have the car centered properly. In I go. Backing out, this technique does not work so well, so I come to a complete stop as the mirrors approach the opening and eyeball the clearance on each side. I either continue or pull forward if I think I would scrape the mirror and turn the wheel slightly as I back out again and off I go. It is a pain, but like everything else, forming habits make situations more tolerable.

All the missing features? There is only one missing feature--power-folding mirrors. Personally, I am able to drive my car in and out of my garage without folding the mirrors. Neither mirror touches anything but it is close. Were it not for the PMC version, I would probably not have bought another RDX because of the folding mirror problem. But the PMC was too gorgeous to pass up and the lack of power-folding mirrors has not been a major issue for me. A minor one? Yes. But not major. I can live with it.

Has anybody actually installed a folding side mirror on their 2019 or 2021 Acura RDX? Does anybody have any Canadian Acura dealership that can sell a pair of power folding side mirrors? Wish Acura had done it. But it seems the 2022 will have them now. Sucks.

If you are correct about the 2022 model, perhaps we can convince a US dealer to replace our non-power-folding for a price? It would be worth it to me.

If it is feasible, you can ‘convince’ a dealer to do just about anything if the price is right.

Bumping this one up- any chance us 21 RDX Advancers will be able to retrofit in the US now that the 2022's have them?

I was flat-out rejected by my dealer. He made it sound like it couldn't be done at any price, that it wasn't feasible given wiring or parts that do not exist for the US 2021s. I'm frustrated by this. Is he telling the truth?

That's what people say who have never had power-folding mirrors. I have had them and they did not break. It is a pain in the butt to manually fold your mirrors when you want to get into your garage.

I had folding mirrors on my prior car. Used them every day, and in 10+ years, they never broke.

Just buy a base trim and avoid the bells and whistles that might stop working! Save $ upfront and on repairs.

Personally power mirrors, wiper device were a couple of adds forc2022 that convinced us to pass on a 2021 and wait a little longer.,glad we did.

Reviving this thread.

For the past couple of months, we've had a relentless cardinal attacking my wife's '21 RDX sideview mirrors. Needless to say, I've had to get the hose out daily to get the bird shit off. Even folding the mirrors in doesn't stop him because the mirrors, when folded, leave enough room for the fucker to get in between the window and the mirror. Going through this got back to thinking about adding powerfold mirrors.

My question is, now that the 2022s come with powerfold mirrors, has anybody successfully retrofit the 2022 mirrors onto a 2019-2021 RDX?

Can't answer about retrofitting power folding mirrors, but a cheaper and less eloquent solution is to fit an opaque large ziploc bag over the mirror. The critter may not bother any longer since he can't admire his reflection in the mirror. Easier than spraying the mirror with water.

I don’t know the year they came out with this feature. I know people have done aftermarket with servo motors.
