During two years and 24,000 miles in a 2019 FWD Tech Package, I‘ve averaged 24 miles per gallon with 67% highway miles.

I’ve logged everything on Fuelly. Most of my “highway” miles were on long interstate trips with the cruise control at 76 mph. My “city” miles were mostly at 25 to 45 mph with no heavy or stop-and-go traffic. The worst mileage for one fill-up was 18.5, but I’ve fallen below 20 mpg on only 3 of 86 total fill-ups. My best tank-calculated mileage was 29.2, and the trip computer reported 30.4 mpg for that trip, so it seems fairly accurate.

“Quarantine” since April, with only an occasional drive for groceries or take-out, has dropped my averages over the last 3 months to 69% city miles, and 21.6 mpg.

Overall I am satisfied with my MPG, especially given the turbo engine.

Completed a long 1,350 mile round trip ride a few weeks ago to celebrate a good friend's B-Day. Rarely traveled less than 10 mph over the PSL on the goto leg. Manged 28.4 MPG.

On the way home managed to go a little faster and ended with 27.1 MPG.

Regards to all ------------

in The City, you won’t get 20.

Here's a comparison between the 2015 Outback that I traded for my 2020 RDX. The RDX has been almost exclusively suburban/city driving. We took some long road trips in the Outback, and got 32-34 on the highway with it.

My first tank of gas ... System indicated 12.8 l/100km, or 18.3mpg. That was about 40% highway, but also with lots of idling and trolling around the city. I did a 100 km highway and rural trip yesterday on a very hot day with my family in the car and averaged 9.8 L/100km, or about 24 mpg. Neither number is very good, but I knew coming into this car that mileage was not it's strength. The X3 is a LOT more fuel efficient, but requires premium. I plan on running the RDX on regular gas most of the time after the break-in, so overall fuel cost should stay reasonable.

I knew what I was getting into, though. My Accord, with the same engine, less height and only 2 driven wheels, would have used about 20-25% less gas, which seems about right. Also, like my Accord, I'm sure the RDX will improve 5-10% once fully broken in.

I am in a real city so my RDX is getting 14 to 15 mpg in real city driving. I know the CRV and Subaru gets better MPG. On a long trip highway I get 28 which I am very happy with but 14 to 15 mpg in the city is crap with comfort mode on and no lead food.

If city mileage is that important to you, perhaps you need a Hybrid? Hybrids excel at city mileage. Not being snarky, just a fair comment. The new CR-V Hybrid is a very nice vehicle.
