Well, as the weather is getting colder, the platic rattle on the driver's side, top of the dashboard, near the pillar is getting louder and more constant. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, were they able to remedy it? I have tried applying pressure to various areas and have been unable to isolate the exact area of the offender.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
I have this issue on the passenger side. The sound goes away when pressure is applied. I haven't been able to set up another visit with a dealer to get it fixed. They couldn't find it during my first service appointment, but I returned to show my service advisor when it recurred just as I left the dealer. We need another appointment for the service technicians to locate and remedy it.
One thing I finally discovered and I never thought it would be this. Where I live in CT, I have lots of Maple trees and one thing in the fall for certain types is they have millions of what we called helicopters dropping in the fall. As they dry out they get smaller and more brittle. It is normal for most cars to have these as well as leaves collect in the gap between the hood and the windshield. The rattling sound I heard was driving me crazy but it seemed more related to speed and wind as opposed to a rough road. I opened the hood and noticed these little seedlings had dropped into the square holes in what I assume is the air intake for ventilation. It runs across the entire bottom of the windshield. To my surprise the little bastards had dropped into the holes but the more solid end kept from them falling completely inside. As wind currents would hit them, the most annoying rattling sound would appear to emanate from the dashboard. What bothered me was unlike typical rattles a rough road at slow speeds did not produce the sound. I struggled with this for almost a month and finally got really into the area and there were these little ends sticking up. The seed is in the smaller end and the wide part actually would fit down inside the holes. You can't believe the noise it made. I have to believe if it happened to me, others must experience it as well.
We have the exact same rattle! I would never have thought it to be something others would have. I've not had time to try to fix it. But it sure is annoying.
I had tried doing the same thing. Unfortunately it did not help at all. It seems like the sound is coming from inside the driver's side pillar.
Well, I may have found the culprit. This is a picture of the soft plastic moulding at the corner exterior of the windshield on the driver's side. The rattling sound disappeared after I just kind of shook this piece around a little bit. It does not attach very securely and a piece of leaf could definitely get beneath it.
I took my vehicle in for an oil change service (A1) at $139.95 and was told by the service guy that he has an RDX as well and also has same issue. Technician came out and we went for a drive so that he could hear where the sound was coming from. He heard the sound and said he would take care of it, along with the squeaky brakes? We shall see.
My oil changes are FREE along with my state Inspections every year. Having to pay $135.70 for an oil change is WTF!! Must be one hell of an oil change with some extra service thrown in. Only in CA could they get away with this.

Just thought I would share.
Maple Keys! OMG Woody B thank you so much. My 2019 RDX started having this dash rattle a couple of months ago and it drove me nuts. I couldn't figure out where this annoying sound was coming from. It didn't seem to matter what speed I was going, the rattle was always there. I was feeling pretty annoyed that a +$50K vehicle would have this kind of issue but then I decided to try an internet search and I found your post. I have large maple trees over my driveway and yard. I actually ran outside to my RDX and sure enough I found a couple of maple keys stuck in that grilled area infront of the windshield. I pulled the little suckers out and no more dash rattle. Thanks so much for sharing this discovery. I hope it helps more of us as well.
I am in CT too and my neighbor had one of those maple trees. Every year my gutters, lawn and car are filled with those annoying flying helicopters seeds. They clogged your gutters and mess up your car.
Actually it's $135.70. What's the range or what others have paid for A1 service?
My A1 service for oil change, tire rotation, multipoint inspection of a long checklist, interior vacuuming, and car wash cost including sales tax was $54.06. I would think that this would be about a middle of the road cost for this service. The nominal cost was $68.61 but some was adjusted off the bill. Perhaps that discount was because I bought the car there.
Anyone have a remedy to this? Knocking around the area, it's not coming from the A-pillar (already insulated the inside of it with felt), but it seems like it's coming from under the dash on the passenger side. I placed a piece of felt between the A-pillar and the dash and that didn't help. I'll try the foam between the dash and windshield, but I don't have any expectations that it's going to help. It's definitely coming from only the passenger side and there's nothing but the owner's manual in the glovebox. When you go over a string of poorly patched potholes (which is basically just a regular road in NY), the dash rattles significantly.

I had a really nasty rattle coming from what seemed to be the A-pillar on the drivers side. It was intermittent, and was particularly bad on semi-rough roads. It took the dealer two attempts to fix it, but apparently it was something behind the panel with the blind spot monitor on the door. They removed it and applied some felt. I was skeptical at first, but it hasn’t rattled for over a month. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks, that wasn't even something I thought about. Unfortunately, not the case for me. Tapping it with the bottom of my fist, that area is solid. Hitting dead center on the passenger side of the dash seems to replicate the rattle. Shoved a microfiber towel between the dash and the windshield and it seemed to dampen it a little, but it was still noticeable. *sigh*

I have the same issue in my RDX ASpec, I have a few pieces of foam in there but don't like that they are visible. Can you recommend a type of foam and size you cut them too? thanks for sharing. Have a happy and healthy Holiday Season. Also have heard the same rattle in loaner RDX vehicles. Must be an issue with this vehicle.
When leaving my house, my vehicle has a rattle along the dashboard when driving on my bumpy street and it disappears when I hit the smooth main road. When returning home and the car is nice and warm, the noise does not appear on my bumpy street. My car is garaged, so I would say the noise happens when the interior is in the low 50s or colder and only on a bumpy road. Since it seasonal and only happening when the interior is cold on a bumpy road, I just ignore it. If I took it to the dealer, it would have to sit outside for a few hours for the interior to cool down to troubleshoot it.
I just had a dash rattle fixed at the dealer. It was directly from the HUD area when temps were in the 30s and 40s. It would move further towards the passenger side when temps got into the 50s. The noise was present on rough roads only. They replaced the entire dash trim piece that is closest to the windshield and it fixed it.
Mine was caused by a broken wiring harness in the area of the HUD which required removal of the entire dash on the driver side. The work order indicates that additional foam was also added is some areas.
Took several trips back to the dealer as the rattle was evident only when the car was cold...as soon as the dash warmed up, the rattle disappeared.
Yea, the HUDs have been problematic. Unfortunately, mine is an A-Spec with no HUD and it seems to be rattling from the passenger side. I'll need to canvass the area around my dealer to find a stretch of road that replicates the issue and hopefully they'll accept doing the warranty work on it.

God damn that must be a terrible experience. For you and the poor tech that doesn't get paid enough to fix that.
