Dash Rattle

Hey, I got a 2002 Type-S, just recently I have noticed a severe dash rattle. I had the sunroof fixed when I found out about the Technical Service Bullitin...I was wondering if there is a TSB out on the dashboard rattle as well. Just want as much info as possible before I take all the time to go to the dealer. Thanks

What I found out before I went to the dealer with my sunroof rattle is that when the problem was first discovered, they were fixing it by lubricating the seal...However, Acura then discovered that lubricating the seal is no longer a valid repair. So you should go to the dealer and advise them to perform the repair on Service Bullitin 00-032. The bullitin will instruct the dealer to clean the seal and apply "sqeak reduction" tape around the moonroof opening.

Dash Rattle

I also had a rattle in my dashboard. It appeared to come from the right side. Instead of taking the car to the dealer for service, I was able to fix it myself. First I rode in the car while someone else drove it on a bumpy road(not hard to find in Pennsylvania) and when I found out where the noise was coming from, all it took was to stuff some padding between the roof pillar and the dashboard on the right side next to the glovebox. I had to put some padding in several areas but with a little trial and error, all traces of the noise are gone. At first, I used pieces of a paper towel, and that was too obvious, but now I've got some black padding that is not visible. In the past I've found that the mechanics are not willing to spend sufficient time to troubleshoot rattles and squeaks. This is a time consuming process, and with the flat rate method of pay, they just don't take time to do it properly. It's worth the effort. My car is now completly squeak and rattle free....now if the paint was soo easy to fix!!!!!
