Had my car repaired after an accident but the part circled in the picture (it's the long piece of felt-like material around the rear wheel arch) seems to be missing. A couple of questions:
- What is the function of this part?
- What is the name (so I can tell the autobody shop)?
thats the felt wheel well liner.. it stops stuff from going up into the wheel well, bumper and other places stuff shouldn't go... some cars they use this felt I believe as a way to dampen road noise from the tires.. not sure what the official part name is.
to be honest, you can probably just push it back onto the inside of the bumper cover and save yourself a trip to the body shop. Pic below on how mine looks. Especially if there are not any holes in the exposed part, then it is not held in by anything but the lip of the bumper
