Collision Repair
Hi everyone,
Just got my 2006 TL back from the shop after a front-end collision.
I have a couple questions on the repair work...it might mean taking a look at your TL which I would greatly appreciate.
1. On the bumper (not the metal but the body paneling) back by the wheel well, basically the top 'tip'...it pulls out decently easily (where I wasn't worried about breaking it) from the quarter panel above it. Is this normal? On both sides it seems loose, and when I look at the connection area while pulling out, it seems like there would be screw connectors to keep it tight.
2. Again for the bumper (not the metal but the body paneling), but this time underneath. How many screws do people with 2006 TLs have holding it on? Right now I've got a screw farther back (closer to the wheel), but moving forward near where it bends, it looks like there is a screw hole available in the bumper and the substructure. This is again the same on both sides.
I'd like to find out so I can go back to the repair shop and have them fix it ASAP.
Thanks for any replies!

It's not normal for the bumper cover to pull out where you've described at all. As you suspected, there is a usually screw there. There's a DIY here somewhere with a video that outlines the front bumper R/I and shows all of the fastener locations.
As to the other issue, I'm sure there are at least 4-6 clips holding the flexible lower air dam section on (thanks front A-spec lip installation)...

The pulling of the side bumper that you speak of: There are two tabs underneath the fender liner that takes one phillips screw, but you also need a clip which will actually hold the screw.
For the bottom of the bumper, I believe there are 4 or 6 clips.
