Yes, I have 2020 and noticed an orange update icon on the upper right side of the screen above the clock. Will try to install it today. A little concerned because the last time it was a pain in the a...
Just completed the D.1.6.2 update on my 2020 RDX Advance. Went out to the garage to check if the update was available and when I clicked System Updates it jumped right to the "Step 4 of 6", "Preparing" screen. Shortly after, it went to "Step 5 of 6", "Install Now" screen. Clicked "Install Now" and 28 minutes later it returned to the System Updates screen. I clicked "Menu" on that screen, selected "Update Result" and it indicated the update was successful. Next, I checked the "About" on the system and confirmed I'm at the latest version.
Anyone having an issue with the radio not being selected as the input device whenever the car is started? I thought this was the issue that I had before where Waze hijacked the sound, but it's happening even with my iPhone disconnected. Basically even though I turn my car off with the radio as a source (in this case more specifically XM), the next time I turn it on its not the source, there is just silence, and I have to go into the menu and re-select it as the source then it works ok until the next restart. This started exactly and immediately after this update.
Anybody get these error messages since the week of Nov 15 when this new software apparently was released? Can’t figure out how to bypass this error. It shows up every time I start my car and when I select “System Update” from the Infotainment Home Menu. I select OK and it just keeps loading to continuously for hours and never progresses further.

The update for my 2020 showed up today as well. It installed in the same time.

Just received the update flag on my 2020. Will get around to it sometime in the next week to avoid the February TCU death date. 😏
"The software will support the transition from a 3G to a VoLTE cellular connection." Huh? Have we been on 20 year old transmission tech? AT&T officially shuts down their 3G network in February (see above), so it kinda sounds like it. Yikes..

because Acura got a big discount to purchase outdated cellular devices.
I got the email notification yesterday from AcuraLink. So, if you don't have an AcuraLink subscription (or at least registered at the Acura Owners site), you may not receive an email at all.
Or try factory reset the infotainment. There is not much one can do, because the need for root or bootloader access to clear application cache.
thank you for the tip. That did the trick and I can now cancel the service appointment they required I make to look at the issue. Many thanks for the suggestion.
When I installed my update thought everything went smooth but every time it restarts I get a screen that says “system updating” and at top it says it’s on 6 of 6, been two weeks now. Dealer time again I guess, so aggravating
While I would like to trust that my update took hold, is there somewhere in the settings that tells you it did? For example, the 1.6.2 update can be seen in the settings. I'm not sure where this info would be..and FDC17.07.007 / NAD200.0.9A00.

mine shows 1.6.2 on the info system, and it seems the update is doing the things it’s supposed to do, quicker boot ups, better Apple play stability, it’s just that stupid green always pooping up

If you need assurance that the TCU update was successfully installed, go to the three-finger menu, click the lower button, then "Unit Check"->"TCU Diag", the SW version should be FDC17.07.007 and the phone module version should be NAD200.0.9A00.

Do you still have AcuraLink connection? (Do you see green LED light in the middle of the map light module)
I would try leaving the car in accessory mode for an hour, make sure the infotainment is connected to internet (either through AcuraLink or WiFi), and see if the update runs through. More things you can try before a dealership visit.
1. If you still have access to the menu where you choose to do the update through wireless or USB, definitely try the USB route.
2. If nothing works, factory reset may help. Although I would say your case does not look like a file corruption issue. Obviously you lose your personalization when you do this.

Thanks Sonyfever...that's the answer I was looking for. And those were the numbers/letters that were there....the phone module did not have 'NAD' before those numbers, but assume it doesn't need to be.
Thank you again!
Updated. Update went smooth. Unfortunately, my issue which disables USB port if car is put in reverse immediately when car started (cold) is not resolved. Will mention to dealer when I go there next time
1. get in a car thats been sitting for hours or over night
2. connect phone to USB
3. start engine and immediately hit reverse, wait 10
seconds or more. Back-out of garage and etc
4. Verify USB port works, ie car play connected or android

I have the exact same issue. Made an appointment to get it fixed. Waited a week, took it in this morning. They could NOT fix it. They gave me my car back and said they had to "call California" to get info on what to do. They would call me later in the week.

Just followed your directions exactly and I get a message that Apple CarPlay is unavailable. Another new wrinkle is that Apple Music gets all tangled up on the infotainment screen, keeps playing but does not update the infotainment screen although the iPhone Apple Music screen displays the correct info.

I get the same error message only when I click on apple car play icon in infotainment screen, and icon is greyed out.
The apple music could still play through bluetooth audio if its paired with your car, but I can not open apple car play at all.
Were you able to open apple car play icon through infoteinment screen?
sounds like this issue is not unique.

I took the plunge and believe my engine life was reduced by 0.001% due to the initial lack of lubrication.
Joking aside, the good news is that I can reproduce the issue, and I use Android Auto. The USB just went dead. I needed to toggle the USB mode (CarPlay <-> ADB) to wake up the USB controller and re-establish connection. Actually, you solved the mystery - I always thought this issue was from Android Auto.

great news! Well, actually its sad we found a bug… hopefully if we reproduce it to the dealer they can put a fix in the next SW update, assuming it can be fixed at all…
Where can you toggle USB mode, some setting in infotainment? Thanks!
btw, you dont need to back out, just hit reverse and hold brake pedal for 10 seconds, then put it back to park to reproduce.

Bluetooth always works but it probably helps that it’s a dumbed down interface, real basic. The frigging infotainment hardware sucks. It gets overloaded, especially at startup. Can’t chew gum and spit at the same time. No way Acura I’s going to replace the head units.
Finally was able to update. Literally nothing has been changed. The issue with YouTube Music and CarPlay is still there. But I blame new iOS for that. My dream to have digital speedometer on Minimal did not come true
I am almost sure it was not an issue before 1.5.x release, which makes me think it can be fixed with SW…
Not going to happen. Have had infotainment issues since 2018. No amount of software updates will remedy the issues once and for all. It's the hardware. I would like to know if the 2022's have zero issues with the infotainment system. Not only that, the latest update adds new bugs.

That Speedo will probably require a new gauge cluster, since the s/w in there cannot be updated but only replaced with new h/w. I am not holding my breath. I wonder if 19-21's can use the 22's gauge cluster, which I heard had the dig speedo.

SUCKS!
UPDATE: I heard from the dealer today. According to "California", this is a known issue although it is not that common. They are looking at it as being something wrong in the car as opposed to something wrong with the update. They made an appointment and will give me a loaner car while they keep it FOR A DAY OR TWO!!!!???? WTF?
Hopefully my 22 arrives soon, then they can keep it forever!

Other than the head unit, there are other units in the car that have firmware and can be updated. I don't know how many and unless they are all at the correct revision, the update may not be possible. I had that problem early on. Dealer could not install one of the earlier updates.
They had the car for a week. An engineer flew out from CA, replaced the head unit and overwrote every unit in the car with the correct firmware. Basically installed all new firmware like they would at the factory. While preserving all the historical data like mileage,, codes and logs. Since then, updates have been flawless.
Bottom line, there are a lot of reasons (too many) why an update won't install. And the system isn't robust enough with proper exception handling or error correction. If just one thing is out of whack, it won't correct for it and once it fails, it will always fail. Dealer techs don't have the chops to deal with it.

Go to developer menu (Three-finger menu->Select lower button->Another three-finger hold), select "USB Mode Switch" and toggle to ADB then back to CarPlay.

Got the AcuraLink email this evening saying that the 2021s will update sometime in the next two weeks.
Did the update Wednesday morning. Went smoothly. Don't know if its all in my head but the infotainment system overall seems less derpy and loads up more quickly.
I'd have problems with the navi core not loading (sometimes not at all, other times it'd be a full two minutes for it to load) and that seems to be gone.
Using the left spin knob on the steering wheel to change sirius stations would sometimes throw an error message up in the HUD. Thats gone.
Carplay would be hit/miss recognizing the plugged in iPhone or displaying the right album art for the currently playing song. That seems sorted out as well.
