MyQ Ad
Anyone else getting an advertisement for the MyQ trial at the top of their Acura smartphone app? And the "Dismiss" option doesn't get rid of it?
(MyQ is the app to control your Wi-Fi enabled garage door).
If anyone has found a way to dismiss it, would appreciate knowing how to do it. Otherwise, it's annoying as it shoves the rest of the content down half a screen.

Yup. It's stuck on my app too. Given how poorly they seem to support the AcuraLink app, I'm guessing it not being able to be dismissed is just a programming bug on the app. That's annoying but I will say the last update made the app work much faster when starting my rdx.

Haven't tried the remote start yet. That would be an improvement. The MyQ app itself isn't working right, either. It does know the door is being opened and closed. It won't display any capability to manually control the door, though. I think Acura wants to charge for putting the app on the center display. Another case of monetizing something that used to be free...or at least part of the door opener purchase.

The one advantage (if it works like MyQ does) would be telling whether the door is open or closed when you're somewhere else. Not worth that much money to know, though. The button on the mirror works just fine and is cheaper.

Well, that's the problem. The app doesn't work anymore since the update. Opener won't connect to the WiFi. Yeah, the signal is strong enough, the light is green, etc. Still working on it. It's not a real big deal except that I specifically bought an enabled opener just for this capability.

Integrated opener. It's a Chamberlain. And I misspoke. The opener IS connecting to the WiFi. It's logging openings and closings. It's just that the app doesn't have any control over it. The circle sits there and spins at the point where I'm waiting for multiple beeps to come out of the unit. Maybe time to reinstall, etc.

It doesn't make any sense to me to have this. You can buy the MyQ door sensor for about $30 and run it from an app on the phone. This not only can open and close the door; tell you whether the door is open or closed but also let you do all that from anywhere your phone has an internet connection. I like the peace of mind of being able to monitor the door's status whether I am in my care or anywhere else. I also like the feature where the app can tell you via "notifications" when the door has been opened or closed.
