"Minimal"
"Minimal"
I have tried to figure out the answer, but...on the dash messaging area where the trip computer, etc is, one of the several displays is "minimal' with no other words. Anyone have an idea what this is referring to?
'Minimal' just means that nothing else is being displayed. "Blank Screen" would be an alternate choice of labels but "Minimal" uses fewer letters so it's more 'minimal', and "Blank Screen" would not result in a 'blank screen'.
I think it speaks to the incompleteness or Beta phase of the system. It almost seems like "Minimal" corresponds to the font size of the system. It is quite small and would seem that an ability to enlarge the size would be helpful. Maybe just my wishful thinking.

Noticed this immediately.
Why label the screen “minimal” - having the label is very non-minimal.
I also wish wish it would default to this screen. The trip info screen has way too much going on for my liking.

Yeah, it refers to the amount of information being displayed on the MID screen, but I agree a blank screen would be more "minimal". Pg 129 Owner's Manual.
I just wish it would default to the Nav/compass display, which is usually my preferred setting, unless there's some really earth-shattering message it needs to display.
I think it doesn't default to the Nav display because the Nav takes so long to boot up.
And yes, Madd Dog, Acura is distressingly consistent about the "effectiveness" of their infotainment systems as compared to the rest of their vehicles.
