Mini road trip to TN

Drove 70 miles up 75N from GA to Chattanooga TN today.
Reset the tripometer when I got on the highway. When I got off 75 it was showing 29.9 mpg, all highway miles.
No issues at all with the vehicle. This will be a 3 day trip only totaling about 350 miles.
The odometer just went past the 1000 mile mark today.
Love the RDX so far.

How do you get 29.9 mpg? I don't think it's rated to go that high, even by Acura.

All I can tell you is that’s what it said when I got off 75N in Chattanooga after driving 70 miles at speeds between 65 and 75 mph.
It said 29.9 mpg which means it goes at least that high.
Why do you think Acura wouldn’t let it go that high?

Not "won't let it." It's just rated for 28 mpg for FWD and 27 mpg for SH-AWD for highway. And car manufacturers are notorious for having ratings that are higher than real-world. So it's pretty astounding that you actually beat their rating somehow.

He's talking about ALL highway, 10th gear, no stopping, no slowing down, no traffic, no downshifting. I've done this and gotten over 31 mpg. Alone in the car, no cargo, 93 octane and I never engaged the cruise control. I was taking it easy on the throttle and I tried to get it to 32 mpg but never made it. Speed was generally 65-70 mph.

Try it. Next time you have to take a long highway trip where you won't stop or slow down for at least an hour or two, once you're on the highway up to speed, reset one of the trip computers. It's not realistic or practical but it's the highest ideal mileage you can get from the vehicle.

Might be interesting to hear what others get. Post here.

Exactly. Although I did have to downshift a few times when passing. And I was heading north to higher elevations.
If I had really babied it, I’m sure I could’ve done better.
just driving through Chattanooga in stop and go traffic for 5 miles brought it down to 26.
But it was an interesting exercise.
I’m going to do the same exercise on the way home on Thursday. I’ll report the results here.

I get best gas mileage when turning cruise control off, and keeping my speed down to 60-65. I hit 28 mpg with some traffic.

I drove from my house to Dayton OH (90 min trip). Got 30.0mpg. Was all highway and I set the cruise at 67mph. So yes, it can do 30mpg, but it must be highway and must keep below 70.

I also just go back from a long trip to Orlando. Two days to get there (all highway at 75mph), then a lot of city driving for a week. Then two days home (all highway 75 mph). Good mixed driving. Got 24.5mpg for the entire trip and that was with 4 adult occupants and fully loaded SUV.

I finished my trip and on the way home from TN I was on 75S, speed limit 70. I had To run 75-80 just to keep up with Big Rig traffic. 70+ miles on the highway and I averaged 28.4 mpg.
My overall mpg was 26. I now have just over 1100 miles on the RDX.
Really no issues at all other than the Nav system had trouble finding my hotel. Switched to Apple CarPlay which had no problem finding hotel.
The RDX was smooth and quiet. No noise or rattles. But I now need a car wash for sure.
