Has anyone lost an item like a credit card or work ID etc. that was on top of the console cover but slid back and went out of sight?

Worst case would be to have a CC on the cover and then slide the cover back. Almost like a dollar being sucked into a change machine.

Where do things that slip all the way back end up and how much do you have to take apart to retrieve them?

I leave a credit card there sometimes after going trough a drive through but I've always wondered and worried a bit about losing into the guts of the car.

 

While I like the look of the cover over the cup holders, I have never closed it for as long as I have had the car. Maybe once when I left my phone in the car to run into a store for a minute.
