I have an Advance, but like the look of the A-Spec better. One of the things i like about the A-Spec are the A-Spec badges on the sides and back. I think it adds a nice little flair to it, and breaks up the emptiness on the panels.
I'd like to add something like that to my rdx, but i don't know what kind of add-on badges are appropriate. I don't want to use A-Spec badges, because i feel it's tacky to claim it's something it's not. But i don't know what else is acceptable to stick on. I still want it to be classy.
Any ideas?
haha, yeah... that's what i'm trying to avoid.
i get the stigma behind badges, but there's gotta be something out there that's not tacky. if it works for the A-Spec, why can't it work for the other trims?

Seeing as how someone on the hrvforums added a "Turbo" badge to their decidedly non-turbo car, I think that means you should be allowed to add those V8 Biturbo emblems you see on the side of real AMG cars.
On a serious note, an Advance emblem might be hard to find, but you can get a custom decal made up, though I think the tacky factor would increase 10-fold.

OP, do you really need a badge tho?
perhaps you could work with a shop that does custom vinyl and have something made that breaks up the canvas. would be less tacky than a badge. almost like a modern pinstripe..
the other day I saw base blue mustang with pikachu and the words pokemaster all in yellow. I smiled and gave the thumbs up to the driver. pretty awesome to see.
Edit* Oh yeah, a vinyl shop can definitely make any shape you want on the fender!! especially a swoop like that

your custom decal idea sounds plausible, but not fully sure show i feel about it

do you have an example of what you mean? i'm not afraid to go experiment with some plastidip
i meant just for experimenting. i'm not afraid to throw some on it just to see how things look, and then rip it off. if there's something i like, then yeah, i'd go make it vinyl.

its hard to make shapes with plastidip. you would need to make stencils. you wont like how it looks, it's like a rubbery effect, that one can tell that it came from a can.
with vinyl, you can cut any shape you want. looks damn near factory, as some cars come with vinyl from the factory. it sits very flush

Harsh crowd.
You could easily put a turbo badge on the back. One of the previous-gen RDX's had it, so there's precedent and you can use a genuine Acura badge so the chrome/font match.
As for the sides, that's tougher. I can't think of anything that isn't cheesy. VTEC is probably the least cheesy if you like the flair.
Maybe you can take a page out of Volvo's playbook and put a little rubber Japanese flag between the hood and fender (yeah, yeah, I know technically this car is designed, engineered, and built in the US).
there's actually a lot of decent VTEC badges out there. i think i'm leaning towards that if i were to actually do side badges.
but just to verify... does the rdx have vtec (i-vtec)?

This is what they do with the XC40.
I don't get the point of that. It's just a little flag hanging out of the side of your car. Were there cars -- I think they were BMWs -- that had different crests on them? I still thought that was tacky, but it's still better than a country's flag that isn't even your own country's.

I think the Swedish pride within Volvo is neat.
I think there’s also a little marketing work there to push back on customer perceptions that the car is “Chinese” because Volvo is bankrolled by Geely.

A lot of nicer Swedish products do this. BabyBjorn puts Swedish flags on their products, and Thule puts the word Sweden into the logo itself. Consumers tend to view Swedish products in a good light; Scandanavian design and quality (Ikea notwithstanding) is pretty desirable. Minimalistic yet refined, clean but not flamboyant or pretentious.
