Fuel light doesn’t alert me anymore at 50 miles left?

When I purchased my 2020 RDX the ¨low fuel¨ light used to come on and alert me. For some reason it doesn’t now and it’ll only come on around 20-25 miles. Is there a reason it doesn’t do it at 50 miles anymore? Has anyone else experienced this same problem lately?

It depends on the fuel economy you are getting on the last tankful, or so.

It is roughly based on the amount of fuel left in the tank....and it calculates the remaining miles left based on the MPG you are receiving.

Mine usually comes on with around 30-40km of range left - never seen it come on much higher than that (I get about 400-450km/tank).

According to the owners manual, the light comes on when there is approximately 2.4 gallons of fuel remaining.

If you are driving on the highway and getting 25 MPG, then that 2.4 gallons of fuel will get you 25*2.4 or 60 miles further.

If you are driving in stop & go traffic, uphill, on a winter day, and only getting 15 MPG then that 2.4 gallons of fuel will get you 15*2.4 or 36 miles further.

So before bringing your RDX to report that the low fuel indicator has a problem, please verify that your fuel economy has not dropped from it's previous value.

I suppose also that if the fuel tank has been damaged on a curb or rock, that the fuel it contains when filled is not the original 17.1 gallon capacity.

Mine never comes on.

I get gas with no less than a quarter tank left.

I just radio for the fuel car to drive up alongside me and directly refuel while we're driving in tandem, even on a two-lane road.

I'm fairly certain there's a tik tok video demonstrating this exact procedure.

Hopefully it involves a large explosion with no survivors.
