Low Fuel Warning
Can anyone let me know at what point your Low Fuel Warning comes on?
We did a test yesterday and found that the warning came on with a range of 35KM (about 22 miles) remaining.
This seems like the warning comes on when it might be too late. This may be fine in the city but what if we were on the highway?
I understand that you should never let it go this low and should always keep track of your fuel level and other fluid levels but it was a test to see if the warning even works.
We also own a 2006 TSX and could swear that the light comes on around 75KM (about 46 miles). We are going to test it again though.
What have you guys seen or remember seeing?

I think that what you should consider is the amount of fuel left in the tank, not how many miles you can drive on it....meaning, that you probably have the same for both cars (maybe not), but you get a lot more miles per gallon in the TSX.....
In my TL, I could drive almost 100 km after the light came on, but didn't often push it past 50 km. In the RDX, I think my light usually comes on when the range is 35 km. But, today, for example, I filled up and my light came on just a couple blocks from the gas station. I squeezed 58 litres into it. I would think, then, that you could get around 75 km after the light comes on, especially on the highway.
I do mostly city driving, and my low fuel indicator comes on fairly consistently when the range shows 50-60kms. Out of habit I always reset my odometer when I fill up, and it seems that I've usually driven about 520 kms by the time the fuel indicator comes on. Hope that helps!
The low fuel warning in the TSX comes on much sooner (I think it was around 4 or 5 gallons in my 04 TSX 5AT) than in the RDX (closer to 2 gallons left). The miles left is computed based on recent mpg and I have found that to be a little conservative. I haven't chanced it but some other threads on here mention going past 0 miles left. Hope this helps

It seems all Acuras have the light come on with about 2 gallons left. That is a good time to fill up as trying to push it will get into the water that is in the tank from condensation, etc. The zinc additive in the gas lubricates the fuel pump. Water is not a good lubricant. A gas and water mixture will heat up the fuel pump and possibly burn it up. In the old days you would put some gas dry in and that would mix (absorb) the water and burn it off. Nowadays, if you use a gasoline with alcohol in it will have the same effect.
The RDX owners manuel states the low fuel indicator comes on when about 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) of fuel remain in the tank. It also states there is a small reserve of fuel remaining in the tank when on empty.
I know it cold get annoying for it to come on at the 50 km's remaining mark but it's fuel for **** sake. We all need it.
