Average???

 

It seems to come on for me with about 2 gallons left in the tank. So around 30-50 miles depending on whether you're a city or highway driver.

 

I've really "flirted disaster" with the Fuel light, I've gone 45 miles past the countdown before, and when I gassed up it only put in 16 gallons.

 

this is a pet peeve of mine. My low light comes on with 20 miles left on range. If I fill up exactly then, I put 16.5 gallons in. I have gone more than 50 miles after light comes on. I think the light comes on at the appropriate time (i.e., approx 3 gallons left and range of 50 miles), but I think the range should be more accurate at low fuel.
Interestingly, when I fill up, the range then shows 400+ miles. I almost always average 20.5 mpg. So when full, the range is thinking I have close to 20 gallons to consume. But at low fuel, it is thinking more like 17 gallons.

Gas warning comes on for me when there's about 3.5 gallons left.

 

what is the most amount of gas you have put in for a fill-up
Mine is 18.5 gallons - engine was cutting out going uphill

 

I have only had the light come on once. From the fill I would guess there was about 2 gallons left--20-50 miles. BTW, it's never a good idea to let the tank get so low as the gas cools the fuel pump. An overheated fuel pump will shorten its life and/or lead to failure.

 

2.5 gallons, I believe. For me that is 16*2.5= 40 miles.. It is in the manual. They call it reserve tank.

 

try not to let it get to when your fuel light goes on. i heard its bad for the engine and also not good for the fuel filter since it sucks up all the gunk at the bottom of your tank.
