Dogs in the RDX

Hey all,

How many of you transport your dogs in the RDX? If so, how does the seal leather hold-up? I am looking at a few different things to put over the seat. She will be in there daily (to and from doggy daycare), so the seats or whatever I put over them will be exposed to all elements.

Any suggestions?

All the time. I have this installed:

https://www.acura.com/accessories/mo...ar-seat-covers

I highly recommend them. The back seats are perfect underneath and that's with a lot of abuse.

Got them at cost as part of the deal along with the all-weather floor mats and a couple of other things I wanted. I'm sure other brands work but these are form fitting.

I like these! The dogs nails don’t rip these up though? I’m talking a Lab and German Shepherd here…

I got a cover from Costco that was in promotion for $20-30 at the local store. It's easy to install and remove, washable as well.

We have a large breed dog, and as you know they do get dirty, wet and might drool a bit and, with time it will stink the inside of the car. So an easy removable cover that could be washed works for me.

Full rear seat covers would be good for a med-small dog, that doesn't make much mess, but you have a Lab and a Shepherd...

We have a 2G RDX and this is not nearly the elegant OEM solution that fogdoctor recommended but we use big thick moving blankets. Obviously they don't form fit like the OEM solution but I close the ends of the blanket between the sides of the seat and sides of the RDX. Not sure of the size but the ones we have fit over the top of the seatback and go down to the floor. No need to worry about the dogs nails or anything like that. They are absorbent and can easily be removed and shaken out. They are washable but would recommend doing at a laundromat. We inherited a few when we moved but know that Home Depot sells them as well and are a lot less than then the $266 in the link for the OEM part.
You would need to decide what the priorities are after protecting the seats, ie - ease of removal/replacement and/or cleaning (do passengers sit in the back?), how it looks, etc......

Before I traded my RDX this was my method. Worked great for my two Border Collies!

For those of you with the bigger sized dogs, how often do you find yourself having to clean the inside of your RDX? My 2 dogs have slobber, dirt, nose prints, etc all over!!! I know it’s bound to happen, but I think cleaning is going to be a daily occurrence!

This is what I have but I put the seats down most of the time an my dog sticks his head out the window. Unfortunately, the seat cover on the right side has mostly come unsecured.

While I had the car I had no problems with the mats. Made any clean ups really easy.
